Now, does "fighting with the help of personal chocobo" mean combat while riding or it's going to attack things alongside us on foot? The wording is a little vague.
This is great news! It's safe to assume then that in 1.19 we'll be getting both rental chocobos and personal ones? (I don't want to take anything translated out of context) >.>
"It would be nice to have a garden in front of your house, so let’s test this out."
Score, Nice to know that when thinking of player housing he may want to go the Everquest II or other MMOs of the sort route.
Also if it is fighting while riding a chocobo, how would it work for Pugilists?
I like the idea of pets, as long as we can use them to fight with other players like pokemon....
I choose you Malboro... Opponent chooses Marmot...
Marmot has been slain....
Alright.... It's official..... I just got an erection....
I can't express in words how much this has made me happy, grateful and extremely hopeful in the very near future for what I wanted in this game.
THIS POST WINS THE INTERNET!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Bayohne and Yoshi P for the post and translations!!! :p You guys $@!%ing ROCK!!!
Okay so mounted combat it is. Glad to hear it, I look forward to pugilist jousting!
OMG!!! Bayohne... You are a freakin' good news machine mastodon of awesomeness!!!! I LOVE it!!!! LMAO Thank you very much for the additional response! I will most certainly wait patiently for Chocobo mounted combat in the future, as long as FF XIV is here for us to play! ^____^ I'm just very content to rest assure that it has been confirmed and will be planned one day! It's gonna be @$#!ing awesome!!!! ;)
i just realized this is the same thread that i commented on about adding chocobo gear last week(page6), awesome.
With the wording Bayohne used, it would seem rentals and personal chocobos are getting implemented on 1.19. Hmmm.
Now, that is awesome!! I can't wait to see this in the future! :D
Good plans Mr. Yoshida!!!
"Here is a simplified plan:
1. Calling a personal chocobo
2. Riding a personal chocobo
3. Walking next to a personal chocobo
4. Raising and dressing up a personal chocobo
5. Fighting with the help of a personal chocobo
If cultivation is implemented, I would like to have gardens implemented as well. It would be nice to have a garden in front of your house, so let’s test this out."
For summoning I think it would be cool to make them more dynamic. Two concepts come to mind. You can have elemetnals/pets that act as a quick summon support adding a boost to the party. The other concept is astral projection in which you project your body into the avatar you have made a pact with allowing you to control it within a certain radius. While given a unique set of commands based on the avatar you are using your body is left defenseless in which mobs are still able to do damage to you. With this concept a summoner would have to rely on allies to keep them safe and it would be interesting to see it done well in an MMO. I think it would be fun to have to protect the defenseless body of a summoner as he/she uses their abilities to take down foes with their ferocious beast. Though with that in mind I would add a astral projection fatigue for like maybe 1min after they are forced back into their body if they are slain/send their astral form back to their own body.
I am interested to see where you will be taking smn/bst though it'll be interested to see how they are implemented to be unique. I do understand that it can be hard to balance them properly but given the format of XIV it shouldn't be to difficult to make them work in the game.
As usual I still just can't see summoner being implemented with how things are. The primal don't serve anyone, if anything others serve them. They're not subservient in any way so summoning them to do our bidding would make little sense.
Lore can be bent anyway you want it to be. They are apparently making conj the whm and thaum the blm. . that makes less sense to me than summoning primals lol. Heck, the main story line even says there's a way to summon them if I remember right, it hints to a future SMN job.
Bayohne! I can't tell you how much this post excites me. Sure I know it will be in the future but there is a lot of great tidbits I think a lot of people will enjoy. If I could "eventually" be playing with my path companion, on a pet class, with my personal chocobo also fighting with me, that would be awesome, especially since I'll be able to equip my choco, maybe even teach him moves or roles.
And in the future we'll have mounted combat content?! win.
I still personally hope for chocobo only travelable terrain ^^
Anybody else notice the garden in front houses quote? Confirmed player housing?
Oh yeah, Yoshida's already mentioned that he wants to do some sort of player housing down the line.
As far as Summoner goes... why must it be a pet class? I loved summoner in FF11, but I always thought that kind of subservience was a bit over the top. And they also got heavily, heavily nerfed because of it.
I'd kinda rather see Summoner as a mage that holds its own without the summons, but can use the primals (as a spell) for burst damage on a long recast.
Take Summoner from FF Tactics for example. I always had Time Mage abilities on it as a sub, so for the most part it went around buffing and debuffing... but when enemies got close enough together... Boom! Bahamut pwnage. Or the same would go for allies when they're in range and Carbuncle/Moogle/Sylph etc.
I realize we have 'time' spells in particular kind of already covered, but that's just an example. It would keep from it having to be a pet class (which the devs keep hinting that they really don't want to do), and it would probably be a ton easier to balance.
Alright, I'm going to throw out some basic ideas for Summoner that I've collected over the past few months now. I think I've displayed enough excitement and giddiness for Chocobos already in the past 5 posts. LOL
I think Arcanist might be the new Summoner, since its already been sort of established into the game as a future class. Its called Arcanist, instead of Summoner, just like everything else in the game is called something different from what it is originally known for.
I have several reasons to believe this.
1) In a few of the descriptions for the guildleves around the different camps, it mentions in the stories that "arcane" demons/creatures are summoned forth from the Necrologos book and what not. (I'll print out a description when I find a screenshot in my enormous gallery soon to back this up)
This leads me to believe that Arcanists (arcane magic) can summon forth not necessarily a "summon" like Ifrit, Titan or Garuda or whatnot, but rather can summon forth creatures found throughout the realm to fight for them. A book is require to summon a monster though, which can be bought or some @!#$ that SE can make up to fit into the lore, I guess. This can be brainstormed further through out the course until it gets added eventually.
2) Also, I have not witnessed this next part, however, I have heard of the Arcanist GM, "Arianger Augerelt" summoning Hippocerfs and Gnats at Camp Horizon for players to fight. Summoned monster by a GM, using an Arcanist modeled character... Showing off a future classes possibilities? Possibly! This also leads me to belief Arcanist being able to cast 10 min buffs for Quick, Regen, enhanced MP and HP, along with summoning creatures. :p
3) There are no other current mages in the game that have a history of summoning monster throughout the realm. Arcanists .dat files that were hacked almost over a year ago claim all these things I brought up to be completely false, which I'm probably 100% way off and wrong, but these known, current pieces of evidence support my theory. Again, this is all pure speculation. Not to mention the Arcanist staffs look like they're staffs with genie lamps on the top of them, which is really freaking cool, might I add! But a lamp that holds summons to spawn? IDK
If we can't summon Ifrit, Titan, Garuda and any others.... maybe they'll give us something new to play with? Creatures to be summoned like a jug in FF XI, except through the power of the Necrologos. Who knows?
And lastly.... WTF is this!? I may be jumping too fast to conclusions like a school girl, but I'll let you guys and the devs decide on this one.... Could just be an unfinished unimplemented monster OR its blue like Carbuncle in FF XI (psst a Summon)?

What do you guys think overall, aside from the UBER~AWESOME Chocobo news and posts I left previously relating to them! XD
Si!~ that is exactly what I mean. There is already precedent for Chocobos enhancing terrain travel: in 7, 12, and 13 (there may be others). I just think it would be a nifty addition especially if chocos are easily raisable by all players :D (or at least rentals can move on rugged terrain also, which would be acceptable)
Leonesaurus, that may be a dat swap of a mob with invalid texture?
Yeah, you're probably right. I figured the same several times, but hey, it's always worth mentioning. I always argued against it with myself considering they use red models (shown in the making of Eorzea video) before they texture them, but we'll see at some point. =P
Yeah I won't claim to know thats just the kind of thing it reminds me of. If you played FFXI, does it remind you of a taurus mob? Thats what it reminds me of.
Exactly. APPARENTLY. SE haven't even released all the jobs, nor which classes they stem from, so your speculation is invalid, really. All that has been confirmed is that WHM and BLM are jobs that you can branch to, NOT that Conjurer is pigeon-holed as WHM, and Thaumaturge as a BLM.
Half the conjurers will mini kill themselves if they get blm, the other half will kill themselves if they get whm. No one is happy in the mage community its split on the THM side too. At this point I just want any job, give me drk on thm I dont care jesus.
The difference is class flavor text lore can be changed. It's a bit harder to change the focus and story of a number of our main campaign quests.
What Ryndael suggested is the only thing that would make sense, and it's FF tradition. Summons being a spell/ability that calls them down to do a single attack before leaving again.
People are still running with the assumption that there will only be one class per job forever? You do realize how little this makes sense right? SE would have to create a minimum of six new classes just to port abilities over to. We are going to end up with TWO jobs per class and everyone is going to be able to pick which one they are going to play with. Not saying it's happening right away, but I'd put safe money that this is the way it will go. THM will get some obscure mage class and Con will get WHM/BLM
There was info in the famitsu article that was translated here that pointed to some jobs requiring multiple classes.
