Keep skills the same when used in PvE. Alter them for PvP only. Problem solved.

Something akin to this -- not in the same style most likely but seems to be the same idea given the "defense battles" prior to it.
I can get behind that. I'd be annoyed to see party exp being something like 500% of what you'd gain solo. You already see gains in killing speed when you party.
JP players voted for soloing, the other regions voted more for partying. I can go with both so long as one is not vastly superior to the other.Quote:
It was nice then he goes by saying more solo come on Yoshi-p did you not see from the FFXIV poll that we want dam party play not solo?
Sounds like just as the game is getting fixed, they are going to jack it up all over again by adding PvP which has ruined the balance of every MMO since the dawn of time.
im personally kind of scared of the time space between 1.18 and 1.19
im predicting FFXIV to go through its own dust bowl era.
i love PVP, im not very good at it, but its so much fun to play against an actual human brain making instant decision based on player skill rather than just a string of calculations.Quote:

unfortunately, i too have heard PVP messes up balancing.... pretty big time.
i wonder how its gonna pan out? either way PVP in FFXIV wont be as fun to me due to the lack of any stealth in this game
no snk, no invis, no instant 10 yard teleporting, no camoflauge, no jumping (well yet)
PVP in FFXIV i believe will be no different than the U.S. civil war battle tactics.... line up with a drummer behind you in an open field so everyone can see you and just shoot straight in front of you.
did they even aim? humans are so funny sometimes.
not that i give two craps about your guys argument, but i felt the need to step in this time. smart comments deserve smart comments sometimes.
i think its safe to assume that not all semantics should be taken so literal.
in comparison, there "practically" isnt "much" of a way to rank once leves are nerfed.
happy?
wow ty for the info Bayohne, I want to rank up killing NMs or/and high rank mobs (currently gives low sp), killing low rank mobs is boring =/
That post sounds greatly promising.
Ganbatte Yoshi-p!
Large-scale PvP and PvE. This is what I've been waiting for, I'm very pleased with this. ^_^
edit: I hope there is some PvPvE in the works also. it would be epic lol
I just want a consistant way to level up, I've always felt restricted with guildleves...
We had a little taste of party play a longtime ago in Eft/Raptor partys, which I enjoyed more so than guildleves, even though it was far from perfect, 15 man just didn't work, no strategic play at all.
As it is now, I find myself sitting around, doing the odd behest here and there while waiting for guildleves to reset which is annoying, I should be able to have the freedom of logging in everyday and being able to form a group "easily" and go exp.
Also getting high enough to do BW/Hala leve groups is ridiculous, I feel like I'm stuck around the 25-40 mark on trying to form a group outside of the linkshell.
I really hope this is one of their main focuses atm, I'm sure I read somewhere that they are adding individuals to flag themselves as well, I really hope they focus on bringing back the form a party, head to desired camp, and play for a long as desired.
this. is. fantastic.
I mean the quote... not the actual implications for the game... those are terrible.
Anyway, regarding PvP- I love it! This news made me very happy. I know that it's a slippery slope if they make it too big of a feature but what the hell, might as well do it because everything else right now sucks anyway... it might just save the game. I honestly don't think they would implement it if they didn't think it would be good. They've heard the PvP debates, they know the dangers, let them do it if they think it's a worthy idea.
One thing that disturbs me here is that there is no mention at all on the search feature to be fixed and perfected because right now the current system is poor and this should be altered with these changes, has there been any mention of this anywhere? I'm sure I'm not alone on this matter.
That kinda comes with the territory. Also it was said in another dev post that party searching mechanics would be revamped/refined.
Cool, put my mind a rest a little more! :3
this is better '-'

Yoshi is side stepping the details that will make ppl unhappy but that he feels necesary for the game to succeed (and I agree 100% with this)
The leve system right now allows you to fail and go from 1-50 in 5-6 weeks playing for about 7-10 hours a week. This is just too easy.Quote:
The ideal image is one where if you play every day for 2 hours or so, you will be able to reach the max cap on one class in about 3-4 months.
There are a few decent grind camps that this hopefully opens up and if they revamp the search feature to find ppl to party with I hope this really pushes the game in the right direction. Its going to be an adjustment from this 100k/hour sp rates some of us took advantage of but I think its all for the better.
THE WORLD IS ENDING BECAUSE OF PEEVEEPEEE.
FFXI had pvp, game was not ruined.
Edit: I honestly hope they launch some new servers come PS3 release, because, as the above poster says, a lot of the systems that are in place/have been in place so far have trashed the game.
Would be nice to get a fresh start with no rank 50s-in-every-class from the get go.
While i was happy about the changes to GuildLeves, i don't think its smart to change Leves without adding alternatives to character growth. Do they expect people to log on for an hour to do dungeons then just play solo? whats the point of it being an MMO then. I understand they will add character growth options later on but if that's the case, they should of waited on the Leve changes too and added new options in the same patch as Leve changes. atm i only log in to do Guild Leve static with friends and most of them just log in for the static too so with this patch, other then dungeons we have no reason to really log in and play together. Considering most of them are bored with a game as it is, and some play rift to kill time, this direction SE is taking is really bad imo. Its like asking to players to go play different games until things are fixed, but the question becomes, how many will return in 3 months time.
I think some people are in for a surprise, We've been promised things in this patch that will keep people busy. Plus no one knows how much time there will be between 1.18 and 1.19 SE says it will be quicker. Until then, we have what they call a huge plot line with the implimented Companies, the 2 dungeons. We can still do Leve's even if they are more geared towards solo play, we can still group up and link. Hopefully there are a few other Secrets they have in store for us with 1.18 patch, but even if there isn't It will be enough for now
Do the quests(which are supposed to give SP), do the new "Raids" do the entire plot line they supply with companies, and in between that, do Leve's and god forbid maybe grind abit in a linkshell party. More content will come.
They have already said that players will not be able to just run up and stab each other, like on PVP servers in some MMOs. So.. if you don't like to PVP, just don't sign up for the PVP events they have planned, and let those of us that do enjoy a challenge have our fun?
I would like it if it were equal. Many people want parties to be superior to soloing, but what if you don't have time to group for hours on end, grinding mobs? Should you get the short end of the stick because of that? I don't feel that's very fair, and I'm more or less in the middle of solo and team play. I have a little time for both, but I hope Yoshida sticks to what he said and keeps everything central, while not giving any one way the spot light. I personally would love if we had story arcs, cut scenes, better rewards and all that, but only if they weren't party exclusive and available to everyone.
I still wish there'd be a character wipe. I don't understand all the people still trying to get as high as possible when so many things are going to be changing in the coming patches. It's not as if you automatically stop playing with people you've met in-game if you're worried about that kind of thing.
If they did a character wipe, I and likely everyone I know would quit playing and never look back. A character wipe is the worst thing they could do for this community, and thankfully they know it. Why are people so hung up on destroying other players' achievements?
I agree, that would be a harsh punnishment for someone who still wants to play the game. Doesn't matter what type of game you are playing, you lose something you have spent hours working on, you will lose the drive to re-do it again and just leave. I've done it countless times with single player games if something happens to my save game. Character wipe = Game death. Besides, that would be resetting the entire economy as well. Everyone will be back in the same boat of no equipment and weapons because no one has a crafter that can make them yet. Baaaaaad idea all around, <end fail topic>
indeed
there are some of use that have spent countless hours lvling our classes. a char wipe would just be a kick in the arse to atleast 50% of the current players. i know i would never play this game again if i had to start from the bottom.
but i really gotta ask..... why do people even think it would be a good thing?
It's interesting that you bring up "destroying other players' achievements" when so many players(not counting you here) keep saying that the game is batshit easy and there's hardly any sense of "real" achievement anyway. If that's REALLY true(and I don't necessarily believe it is), then it shouldn't be that hard to start a clean slate.
This is especially true considering the point that there really won't be much for the rank 50s outside of a dungeon for rank 45 that no doubt they'll finish in a day and immediately proceed to say they're bored and SE never does anything for 'em.
My original point still stands though. There are so many changes in the works for the journey to rank 50, that starting fresh would be like a totally new experience. What good does changing concussive blow from rank 2 to 1 do if you're already at the top anyway, for example?
I'm glad there's a number of players like yourself that actually do enjoy the game enough to not want a character wipe. My suggestion really only applies to bored players.
If there were a char wipe, I'd leave for the same reasons that have already been expressed. I know I'm not the only one. It's a dumb idea, plain and simple.
Happy Canada day all you Canadians!
thank god they don't have the ability to reset real life. Hate to lose our entire history just because someone thinks they should reset because they didn't have video games when they were a kid to enjoy it
If you would like to wipe out your 1% of progression, feel free to delete your character. No one is stopping you.
...I'm not entirely sure you guys understood the point I was trying to make.
Thank you for using the correct wordsQuote:

happy?
