Ninja, Thief, Samurai and Corsair. I'm actually finding it hard to stay interested in FFXIV with the current classes/jobs. I miss these jobs so much.
Samurai! Dps or tank. SAM's just look so badass!
I would probably leap at the chance to play Dancer and have a Healer Job that's a Disciple of War instead of Magic.
I strongly suspect BLU in XIV would work in a way similar to but not identical to the way it did in XI. All spells would be learned from quests that see you tackling some notable monster to learn one of its abilities as your spell. The spell would not come directly from killing the monster but would be a quest reward that is explained as learning the spell in the same manner as XI BLUs do.
I feel the this way to. My interest also continues to wane as the days pass without any new information on new classes and jobs.
As for which jobs would I play? All of them! The one I currently favor is Musketeer and part of it is because it was promised way back since 1.0. I would like for every classic Final Fantasy job to eventually make an appearance as a playable class as time goes by starting with:
______________
- Musketeer
- Ranger
- Thief
- Red Mage
- Time Mage
- Blue Mage
- Spell Fencer (Rune Fencer, Mystic Knight)
- Salve-Maker (Chemist)
- Dancer
- Ninja
- Samurai
- Dark Knight
- Beastmaster
- Geomancer
EDIT: My apologies! My mind initially read the title as "Which FF job would you play in XIV?". To answer your question accurately I'll say Ninja!
Ninja the way it was meant to be played, not the "tank" it turned into. Ninja at first was designed to be the sneaky DPS that was adept at ranged attacks with shuriken, cause enfeebling and magic damage with it's unique ninjutsu, raw physical DPS with it's dual-wield traits and the ability to conceal yourself and evade enemy attacks with the ninjutsu spells Tonko and Utsusemi.
Even though the dancer class/mechanics seem fun to play- the concept of a ... dancer... is just something that seems so bizarre to me... dance a curing waltz? WTF does that even mean?
I am not saying that it isn't a fun to play class... just that the concept is a bit... bizarre. I imagine a raid of dancers being something like an N'Sync concert...
I also completely despised FF X-2.... so there's that.
Blue mage and rune fenser
Well skipping the mechanics and considering they would need an overhaul to be in FFXIV... Can we redo Summoner please T_T They just don't feel powerful in this game. If one group in this game is getting boned it's those guys. They deserve their jaw dropping Limit Break animation!
But I don't ever see that happening soooo... meh Corsair or Ninja could be made into this game. Pretty much a bard clone with guns and High evasion/parry tank with some ninja smoke!
Because for SOME STRANGE REASON yoshi said if he adds "more skills" to one class he absolutely must add more skills to every other class and he doesn't want to do that. So Blue Mage is the one class that sadly would never work in FFXIV, because even in older FF games, it had quite the choice of skills, in ARR, you get what, 5 or 6 job abilities ontop of your bass class skill?
They limited themselves by choosing the generic MMORPG route rather than optimizing a FF game for an MMO environment.
The same way you wave your wand your cast a curing 'wind', or to weave a bunch of air into an attack (Aero) or launch a bunch of stones at people (Stone) or wave your hand over a book. It's called Magic and it works perfectly fine.
I know what you say is true- once you use "magic" as an excuse then logic goes out the window. Technically, we could have magic artists... that use a paint brush to create magic effects... or magic mimes that imitate and it becomes a reality... I guess you could add magic to any activity... so I know what you say is true... I guess I have a hard time seeing it in a combat situation... but to each his/her own.
Fancy you use 'magic paintbrush':

She's known as a 'Pictomancer' - It's hard to see in combat if you look at it too literally but it makes perfect sense in application when you realize if you live in a world where magic, faeries, rocks that enhances your ability and the ability to dematerialize yourself and materialize yourself at will in any location in the world through a 'life stream', nothing is too out there. Dancer is actually one of the stronger 'assassin' type classes in the FF series because of their abilities and 'Sword Dance'.
Lol, I see a plethora of individuals mentioning smn; while I am no summoner (Not gonna lie, still locked), the job does appear lackluster gameplay wise (May need to try it out myself). The appearance of the pets also leave alot to be desired. SE could have used a little more creativity when designing the summons. I understand that a bunch of hulking pets on screen my be a nuisance, however, SE could have went another route; (Blue Dragon shadow style or something) these summons just look meh compared to XI "ps2 limitation" summons. (Different game, I know, but still)
Dancer, so much.
Top 3 for me are
1. Red Mage
2. Dancer
3. Ninja
I am under the opinion that dancers can make extremely good martial artists, even in real life, because "dancing" has effectively trained their bodies to be flexible.
corsair and blue mage
I'd drop everything for Blue Mage. it was my main in FFXI. with NIN in 2.4 I'll be giving it a shot, at least. Wish SMN (and sch to an extent) was more like FFXI then it is
SMN in XI was just soooo much better, wish they could bring that back.
Dark Knight minus the horrible acc and then unnecessary enmity would be nice.
A similar armor to the AF, but obviously with a new touch.
And a scythe please.
DRK and SAM. Both preferred to be tank jobs. (like how true FFXI vets played them as)
Dancer......
Blue Mage or Dancer!!
Blue Mage being my first choice!! - It would be great to go out and not sit about in towns (think one of the original posters had a similar mind set)
Dancer - I think it would make for a nice "different" healer - close combat utilising tp for healing rather than mp.
It's tricky - I really really enjoyed FFXI's summoner, and I do like XIV's as well, however like most people I'm not a fan of the Egi's - from a lore perspective I understand their small size, but if there were bigger and slightly more primal like, I'd enjoy it more.
Corsair...I need a gun and pirate clothes.
BST, if it could be done in this game.
i like my PLD, and if they add more classes id still stick with my PLD as my main class of choice. If they give me a magic tank i might switch between the two. My DPS preferred class is MNK and ill likely switch between MNK and NIN , as far as ranged goes...while iv been slowly gearing up my SMN and SCH, i prefer not to use them. I care not for BLM or BARD or DRG.
Once implemented, the musketeer will likely be my DPS ranged of choice. And as far as healing...i don't care much for WHM or SCH. Perhaps Chemist will show up as healing class contrary to original FF schemes, i might give that a shot.
Personnally i have a brain and i was able to play it with all its potencial and not only as a heal.
In xi you were able to buff/heal/debuff/dps and each summon had its own powers/skills and its utility in diffrent situations. Good for you if you are happy with xiv ones, it's not my case.
sam/thf
/10char
All of them!
But if I have to choose...
Blue Mage
Red Mage
Dark Knight
Samurai
Runefencer. I've never played FF11 but I love runes and I love huge swords. Don't care about other classes.
For some reason, it seems to be rather unpopular on here.
I would play the FFXI version of bard even more in FFXIV than I play the FFXIV version
Oh same goes with warrior. AAAND I would like Summoner to be able to use more summons.
This for the jobs that allready exist
For those not implemented yet (?)
Beastmaster, Samurai, DancerThief ... in that order
Ranger, No, not what bard is, the actual ranger, where all of it's tools where to deal damage. + Guns. Talk about enmity issues..
BARD baby! Not this stupid DPS hybrid we got now. Hopefully once the level cap is increased and new abilities are added bard becomes more versatile with buffs and debuffs. There must be a reason why we have heard nothing from SE in the way of a rdm type class, maybe bard will be filling that role?
