SE: How are we supposed to make money?

I got into the habit during FF11 of always having every sale slot filled before I log off for the night.

Even if I don't have a full stack, I make sure I fill it with single items.

It's just nice knowing that you have a constant stream of gil, even if it is'nt huge flowing into your bank.

It's funny that the OP is complaining about being undercut when he is undercutting as well, not to mention it's too big an undercut that the OP is doing. If the thing you want to sell is up for 3,200, then you don't sell it for 2,800, that drops the price too much and too quicky, that's the behavior that has lead to our FFXIV economy to die the death that it has. Sell it for 3,150, not 2,800... Small undercutting is the key to making gil, instead of destroying the value of the item itself.

200k is repair costs and 1 40k metira for my 2nd relic.

CT 2 runs till my hubby and I get the drop we are after. Then HM dungens.
Daily 1-1.5 hours.

Don't able to log on everyday.
Myth cap is hard to hit most weeks because roulette is currently not an option for me because I only farm myth with my hubby in the party.

That's basically just leads to deflation on all rounds. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It means the actual buying power of a single gil is higher within the wards, meaning you're richer with less money. Otherwise, there really isn't much to spend it on. It sounds bad, but there's not really much it can adversely affect outside of traveling cost and potential housing.

But I'm hardly an economist, so take that with as much salt as you want.

If you have other people in your FC/LS that you play with, and you and those have a few level 50 gathering jobs, may I suggest treasure hunting?
Our FC does it as weekly event for Housing funds at the moment, but Peisteskin maps drop 1692 or 5076 gil each, along with 5 or 15 Mythology, random crafting items (Including Philosophy materials) and a chance at the pretty Bluebird minion.
Including traveling it takes about 10 minutes or less per map.

The way I've made money in other markets on different games is by knowing general market prices, and watching the latest postings like a hawk. Whenever someone posts things for too little I'd buy it up and repost it for the proper price. Depending on the days I might be able to get some really good deals, or quickly snatch up a pricing error.

However I noticed in this game there isn't any way to check for the most recent posts, you can't look at the market as a whole, just each individual item.

I've been thinking maybe the reason the market deflates so much compared to other games, is that it is very common practice for people like me to snatch up things and turn it around for profit, and since absolutely nobody is doing that, there's nobody monitoring items going up to keep it at a consistent market trend.

its the fastest gil with zero effort and you're slowing down depreciation. Don't tell anyone ^^

yes, the MB interface leaves much to be desired, even WOW for example is better and 10 yrs old.

Best advise to all that want to make Gil on this game "level your gather classes first" this will cut out the middle men that supply your mats and allow you to farm mats you need for high level crafts your self.

Making a lot of Gil on this game requires creative thinking study of markets and sell of items at the CORRECT times! You should generally jump between multiple markets for items selling on one if another gets flooded and selling your items at the right time when supply is down the price is high and the demand is good (this happens more than you may think)

You are one of the people causing your problem / losses.

If you undercut by 1 gil it has the same effect as undercutting by a lot more, people will generally buy whatever is top of the list.

Its just tough to make any money post 2.1 SE killed just about every market there was out there, and yet somehow expect us to pay 300 millions of Gil for a house. Lulz

I disagree, there would be no problem if there was more demand and less supply.
SE makes crafted armor useless so the demand will be very low.
Since the best in slot gear does not use Materia, its demand will be low.
Can't blame sellers for undercutting when its the only way to get things sold (due to low demand).

Lmao Im not even talking about the crafting market. Everything in general is in shambles. Materia, crafting items and shards are all selling for next to nothing. Fleece, diremite and flax is all now gone thanks to SE adding them to vendors, and the rate @ which armor binds is now so fast materia is selling for almost nothing. Best way to make money atm is treasure hunts, and that takes a good chunk of time to get going.

I'm not sure, I've actually made more since 2.1 than before. Materia market going down has actually increased sales on melded relics. You just need to find the right market.
