i got no ppl to play with atm , that makes me stuck on all endgame
The biggest thing that frustrates me and holds me back from completing content (I may regret this later) is other people in general, specifically certain friends/FC members in my now disbanded static.
I find I can't clear content with them, but when I go on my own and pug or form my own PF groups (except 3 of my friends who I make good progress with, but play rarely) I make a lot of progress. I still play with my FC and help them out the best I can, but when you get stuck on T2 enrage method and wipe constantly (my main class is WHM ilvl 87) it gets frustrating as I've been to T5 and one of the very few to make it past Titan Ex (some can't even get passed Garuda Ex).
So I try to do things on my own, but they get angry with me when I leave them behind. I get so flustered and feel guilty about it, but this is my sub and my character. If I want to progress I will, but at what cost? Sometimes it costs me friendships :/, and that frustrates me. How do you all deal with it?
Only Turn 5, Have cleared everything else. It gates me because we can never get everyone to show up for it, we only give it a few attempts before someone leaves and we can't find people to pug for it because they more often than not would have to skip turns 2-4 to join us.
When I do see a window to go to a turn 5 it's for a dps or healer, of which I do not have the gear. I only have the gear to tank it, by bad gear, I mean a couple pieces of CT gear and darklight on my blackmage...
Bottom line, I know we can do turn 5 if we practice, we just can't seem to do that, something always comes up with somebody.
I don't know your personal circumstances or ability level but I find people can often surprise themselves and others when they dig deep enough.
By way of supporting that statement and hopefully offering incentive to others to keep on chipping away I'll link this video of a Mass Effect 3 solo gold completion by a very resolute individual.

I got time. It's an MMO. I have friends. I have time.
1. Not really gated, but not really moving forward.
2. I have other interests. Being in high stress instances with rude people is not one of them.
3. No
4. I think there should be whole world content added. Not just end game.
5. ^^
While I enjoy a challenge, rushing to end game and getting max gear right away, is totally unimportant to me. I will be playing this game long after most people have gotten bored and left.
I don't pay for a game to beat it fast and be done with it. I like to be immersed in the world. I've seen it so many times in many different mmos. I've been playing for more than 10 years. The same thing happens. People rush to end-game then complain there is nothing to do, then they quit. The sad part is, they have actually skipped most of the game to get there.
So if you have a disconnect with casual players, why not try helping them complete some achievements, or what ever their other interests are, instead of doing the same hard core thing night after night.
What content has gated you, and for how long? Stuck on T5, several weeks at ilvl90
Why are you stuck here? Mostly lack of commitment to a static group. I do not currently have the time to fully commit to a static group. My work has me on call often and most groups would replace me after missing once or twice. Beyond that, every pick up group I've joined is a combination of under geared, or completely incapable either though lack of skill, or poor latency, or both.
Are you upset about this? Only moderately so. It's more of a frustration. Often pickup groups feel like a lottery ticket. IMHO the entry requirements for these fights should be higher. This wouldn't really solve most of the problem, but it would certainly help. With the continuing issues with latency, perhaps a way for the server to query each team member's ping, and on-the-fly adjust the timing of dodgable elements of the fight?
Should any changes be made to the content to accommodate you and players like yourself? Not really. I'm sure I could win T5 now if I really put in several non-stop hours with the right group, I just have a lower tolerance for it now than I used to. Also, once I down T5, the game will quickly turn into just needed to grind it over & over til I get weapon/helm with "nothing else left to do" level of content. Already maxed all jobs, all relics, etc.
What kind of content would you like to see added in future patches for you to enjoy? More mounted combat in instances, maybe even a boss fight where we fight in our Magiteks, or on chocobo. Fights that are more about killing the right thing first, or learning to exploit a certain weakness (that could dynamically change every fight) rather than simply "get out of this red circle or die." I really like the gauntlet of T4, and would like more challenges like that.
It feels like having a life.
What content has gated you, and for how long? Coil and Extreme modes.
Why are you stuck here? Language Barrier, I'm on a JP server, but NA.
Are you upset about this? I'm getting a bit frustrated because I thought it would be easier to find a static with EU/NA players on the server, it has not been. I went to a JP server because 1, I have friends there and 2 because of my work schedule I end up playing a lot during JP times. It was a bad choice I've made and now I have to live with it. I've made many friends and I am very reluctant to move servers. PF has a ton of JP Only listings. Once in a while you see "EN Welcome" and we all bounce on that, but pretty rare these days.
So for things like Extreme modes, I'm pretty much stuck with DF. I farm Ultima HM through DF currently for accessories when I'm done with myth and stuff for the week.
As far as learning content, I can be extremely patient. Takes a few tries for me sometimes. I am not the type that can read a guide/watch videos and immediately be able to commit it to memory, I really really wish I was that type, but I have to perform it to commit it to memory.
Should any changes be made to the content to accommodate you and players like yourself? No, this is not a tactics issue. This was entirely a result of my own choices.
What kind of content would you like to see added in future patches for you to enjoy? I don't have an answer to this currently, I'm more focused on my current goals.
What content has gated you, and for how long?
I had trouble with Titan HM. I couldn't memorize all the mechanics. To my great embarrassment, I got through shattering the heart and then died and was carried the rest of the way. I have yet to try any of the new dungeons besides CT.
Why are you stuck here?
My memory isn't great. I have probs with 'tunnel vision' too I guess. Running out of aoe doesn't mean anything.
Mostly though, I am terrified of embarrassing myself in front of others and being called 'bad'.
Are you upset about this? (if so - why? and how can content be added for more hardcore players such as myself without upsetting you.)
Not upset really. I'll get there some day. I just hope others will be willing to go with me when I do. It is not unusual to put out a call for a particular dungeon and just hear crickets chirping.
Should any changes be made to the content to accomodate you and players like yourself?
Changes to content? Nah.
It'd be neat to have more mid-level dungeons though.
It would be a big help to have lag/latency dealt with.
It would be nice to not have queue times of an hour.
It doesn't help that it seems the "ideal" strategy for a dungeon or fight changes every couple days.
Most of this is just "I need to practice more". :) I won't go without friends though.
Full disclosure - this is my first regular mmo.
btw, I like these kind of discussions. We get to see what motivates other players. :)
What content has gated you, and for how long?
-THE DUTY FINDER, 55 MINUTES FOREVER
Why are you stuck here?
-BECAUSE IM A DPS.
Are you upset about this? (if so - why? and how can content be added for more hardcore players such as myself without upsetting you.)
-Honestly, i don't know. Part of me just wishes you could duty-find without HAVING to use the holy trinity. 2 healers and 2 DPS? 6 DPS, 1 Hybrid, 1 Tank? I dunno.
Should any changes be made to the content to accomodate you and players like yourself?
- It already has, it's called the Party Finder, but nobody uses it unless they're running Hydra, Titan HM or Coil.
What kind of content would you like to see added in future patches for you to enjoy?
- SE needs to hand out free cookies everytime you use the Party Finder to start a dungeon.
Please include any other information you think might be relevant.
- my queue is currently at 45 minutes
My group of real life friends is small enough that we need to PUG out slots to run things, and it's tough to find FC's to partner up with that don't already have their best players committed to a static. I'd say that's the main thing holding me back. I've had a little more luck lately.
OP, I think your post would have come across as less haughty, (or attention seeking,) if you had just asked your questions directly. Your list of accomplishments didn't serve the conversation any.
What content has gated you, and for how long? - Nothing but my own disinterest. I'm not terribly gear obsessed, but I recognize its importance in clearing content. So I'm taking my time to gear up before I attempt certain things.
Why are you stuck here? - I have different priorities than others.
Are you upset about this? - Not in the slightest. It's my choice.
Should any changes be made to the content to accomodate you and players like yourself? - To the game, no. If people in general weren't such %*^#s I would probably attempt certain content in less than optimal gear for the challenge. That said, people don't want challenge. They want uber damage and face roll.
What kind of content would you like to see added in future patches for you to enjoy? - Non-FATE open world content with real danger even at 50, with high probability of failure and death.
Ive been doing coil 1-5 for months on end, and caster pants have never dropped. Does that count?
It's not too bad. But then again, does my opinion really count if the only thing I haven't downed is turn 5? I don't really care, either. I am just doing whatever.
When I was playing World of Warcraft, ever since I started grouping with players to down content I've wanted kind of like a gym, for basic stuff. But you could adjust it. Like a training mode or something that would simulate very common patterns found in raids. World of Warcraft implemented their proving grounds and brawler's guild which are both similar ideas... But not close enough.
If I had to say, the Brawler's Guild was a more similar idea, but with as much waiting as you already have to do in MMOs it was just extremely unappealing to me.
I work a 24/48 schedule. There are pretty much no effective FCs that support that schedule. I really just can't be assed to spend months wiping hoping to hit the jackpot-PUG, so I really don't even bother trying anymore. It's not worth it to me to go through months of frustration to get something that pretty much anyone with an IQ>70 and a steady schedule can achieve.
I'll confess my issue is that as I've gotten older I care less and less for having to take time to learn boss fights. I just want to one-shot everything and get it done. My patience just doesn't have room for hitting my head against the same brick wall over and over. Having to put multiple attempts into fights gets stressful for me, and eventually I just get sick of it and don't want to do it anymore. Because of this, when I play WoW I only do the LFR raids. To me, that is fun. I can enjoy the content, and get it done with little stress involved.
I wish there was more endgame content for light parties (or groups of 4-6) rather than forcing us all into 8-man parties. Or let us bring our Chocobo companions even...
I've got a good group of friends to play with, but trying to get all of them on at the same time is a bit of a headache. As the general community is overly toxic, DF/PF often results in lotting disagreements, arguing over tactics, rage-quitting, basically an unpleasant experience.
I'd like to see HM/EX Primal and Coil options for smaller PTs.
**I suspect the reason is server load. Bigger PTs = less instances need to be made, but still....
What content has gated you, and for how long?
I haven't even tried Thornmarch, the EX primals, and I've only fought Cadaceus twice (then the group fell apart). I just got my relic three weeks ago, so not too long. Titan HM locked me up for two weeks.
Why are you stuck here?
I cleared Titan HM on my BLM mostly legit (I survived until ~10%), but struggled with my Scholar. I'm going for all nine relics, but the blowback I've gotten while trying to learn SCH has really demotivated me. I want to clear Titan HM all the way down to 0%, but I can't bring myself to join groups because I feel like I'm holding them back just to learn the fight. This feeling has crossed over into every other type of end-game content (except CT).
Are you upset about this? (if so - why? and how can content be added for more hardcore players such as myself without upsetting you.)
Yeah, I'm frustrated. Every time I join a group all I can think about is how I'm going to be blacklisted on my server. But this isn't something Square Enix can fix (unless they provided some sort of "practice mode" for an instance). It's just the bad end-game atmosphere.
And I understand why people are frustrated, I really do. When I go into a Titan HM Duty Finder and see half the DPS under 3000hp and some of them with a <lvl50 weapon, I know we're not going to clear it. When other people die before the heart because they can't dodge, I get frustrated. But I don't take it out on them, and I try to remember that I wasn't that great at whatever the content was the first time I tried it.
What content is gated? -None.. I can get to any of it... I just don't.
How do I feel about it? - I don't care... that's why I haven't bothered doing it. Rehashed primals hold zero interest to me. Turn 5 holds zero interest to me at this point. I don't care about more allagan, I think it's ugly. I don't care about Ex-Primal modes to get gear to farm ex-primals... it's the same cycle as farming HM primals... why bother doing it again in Ex Mode?
Did other encounters... aside from King Mog, none of them are interesting enough to care to repeat. CT is fun once a week for the strange people you encounter.
I guess I don't consider myself unable, just apathetic. I was a high end raider in EQ... it's not challenge that keeps me from spending time on this junk... it's that it's just not interesting enough.
For me, the biggest challenge in this game has been getting around the question "Why bother?" (-Except for King Moggle Mog Squishy Mog)
This is simple. The content is boring. The boss mechanics are boring. The entire pace of battle is boring. The reward for beating your head against the wall is only self gratification, loot rewards are boring. Skills are boring. Classes are boring and no single patch is going to solve this. At SE's pace, the game may be fixed in 2020. Until then, I am moving on to something with more depth, better gameplay, and less annoyances.
In closing, this game is boring.
What content has gated you, and for how long?
Content doesn't gate me. I gate content.
Why are you stuck here?
Answered above

Self explanatory
Should any changes be made to the content to accomodate you and players like yourself?
Self explanatory
What kind of content would you like to see added in future patches for you to enjoy?
Harder content that is worthy of me to ungate previously gated content by me
Epeen reduction imminent! Read at your own risk!
Just to elaborate on a few things, the reason why I gate content is, I do it, I realise I can complete it but I just need a solid team to do it, then I leave it be. I don't need the immediate accomplishment in order to satisfy myself. I can afford to wait for some of my fellow FC pepz who are still on holiday or they need more practice in order to get the mechanics solids but don't have as much time as a hardcore player to sink in. Content in any game is all about time. For example, assuming lag isn't an issue here, anyone can clear t5 if they put some time into it. The real difference is how fast a player climbs up that learning curve. Some people took weeks of full time mmo playing to master it. Some people took merely hours.
So a good example is, a hardcore player plays the game for 8 hrs a day 7 days a week. He does coil t5 for 4 hrs a day for about 5 days a week and it took him 1 month to clear. This totals up to about 80 hrs in order to clear this dungeon. A casual player spends 1 hr a week on t5. It takes him 2-3 months to clear t5 but his total hours spent on the content is only 8-12 hrs.
So I just want to say, being hardcore doesn't mean you're an elite, and doesn't mean you're a pro. It just means you sink more time in the game in order to clear content that is perceived to be faster by you but really, a casual player who only put 1 hrs time a week but cleared it in 2 months obviously had a much better potential as a player than the hardcore player did. It's a learning curve, some people learn faster, some people learn slower. If you're a slow learner (the hardcore player in this case) then you have to put more time/effort in it. Obviously, you can be a casual player and a slow learner then that's double the slowness. But ye, hardcore really only means you have more time to spare on this game. Casual means you have less time to spare on this game. Neither of these are at all an accurate gauge of skill. So no, the harder content and probably all future harder contents is not designed for "hardcores". They are designed for EVERYONE but people complete it at different paces due to real life factors.
Thanks everyone. I realize I definitely made some mistakes in the OP but I got a lot of good answers regardless. For the record, I was definitely stuck on HM Titan for upwards of 5+ hours a day for almost two weeks. This is before I met my FC and the large group of talented players I'm lucky enough to play with now.
It seems like:
A lot of players can't find a group for completing content that meshes with their schedule/playstyle, and duty finder/party finder are incredibly frustrating/stressful when you have something you want cleared, because it's difficult to put together a group of PUGs "on the same level."
For players seeking progress, they don't want to be matches with newer players who are learning because there's no incentive to teach them the fight. Especially in duty finder your chances of meeting a player 2-3 hours later once they've learned the fight is incredibly low. It's a waste of your 60 minutes to wipe repeatedly because the other players have less experience than you.
For players seeking to learn, they don't want to hold back the players ready to progress. They don't want to deal with belligerent attitudes about how they "should have watched a video" or "what do you mean you don't know the fight?" This is completely understandable, dealing with mechanics can be stressful enough even without dealing with the players.
Plenty of players are playing at their own pace and simply haven't come to the "endgame contents" but are easing into them, but are wary of running into people who expect you to have already cleared the content.
A few people have really sad stories about their statics, and I feel for them. Most of the higher level content is tuned for a group to complete together, rather than a number of individuals.
It feels like, to me, that a lot of players would be happy with a sort of "CT level difficulty" version of coil, that offered lesser rewards, but roughly the same type of story and battle experience.
I guess a sort of "stress free" group approach introducing the fresher players to new content is definitely the way to go, more or less confirming what I thought. Let's go in for an hour, wipe a bunch, laugh about it, and come back another day/when you feel comfortable. If we knock it out, great! If not, no big deal. At that point you at least have the minimum about of understanding to want to join a party finder/duty finder group.
I actually wrote up two different responses specifically to your post, before accidentally deleting one, and accidentally closing my browser on another one! I felt a little bad that you might think your post was abandoned for being long etc, but I got caught up with things and didn't leave another reply. I liked that you mentioned being upset with coil, because it confused me to see so many posts about Titan Extreme(specifically "extreme content"/gating players on weapon sidegrades/vanity) vs Coil, which MAJORLY gates the story, especially for 1.0 players (I'm guessing you've spoiled it yourself by this point, but I'll refrain from spoiling anyways)
I'm glad you replied seriously, because maybe my wording was not the greatest, but I just wanted to start serious discussion.
Might as well chime in.
What content has gated you, and for how long?
T5 but my group has barely started on it. Titan EX, have not tried it more than a couple times.
Why are you stuck here?
I absolutely cannot dodge weights on reaction due to my latency, even with vpn on. On titan HM alone I have to memorize all the patterns and then run far far ahead of the plumes alone as a dps. Titan EX looks to be even worse and the go to strategy seems to be stacking for plumes, which i might not be able to deal with (I need to run free for this). I've been avoiding the fight because I dont need any accessories from titan and ifrit ex and the weapons would just be for my alts. It's an incredibly unfun fight for me compared to just about every other fight in the game.
Are you upset about this? (if so - why? and how can content be added for more hardcore players such as myself without upsetting you.)
Dejected, more like. I can clear titan hm with much more ease now, due to being overpowered for the content and can focus on just not dying from dodge mechanics but it looks like I'm gonna experience those days again.
Should any changes be made to the content to accomodate you and players like yourself?
Uhhh.. reduction in weight plume size by 10-15%?
What kind of content would you like to see added in future patches for you to enjoy?
Less titan-likes. Coil mechanics on t1-t4 isnt so focused and punishing on latencies so I'm fine with that. CT's difficulty is a bit too easy for 4-8 man. But for some reason the dodge timings in CT is perfect for me though. I can dodge the last boss's aoe attacks as melee or ranged by reaction just fine.
What content has gated you, and for how long?
Each turn of Coil. The entire lockout system of Coil is a chore and I've been playing since closed beta, but it hasn't been since the end of last year that I started getting into groups either as PUG or semi-regular member of a static.
Why are you stuck here?
Organization. Perfection demanded not only from me, but the rest of the group. The lockout system making it hard for people to group up and train each other, then the same issue in gearing up with it for BiS items needed from it, making it a bit of a catch-22. The artificial rarity that makes it so inaccessible.
Are you upset about this?
Yes. I play Final Fantasy games for the story first, for the gameplay second. Coil extends the story, and I don't want to watch videos on YouTube or read re-caps of what happens here, story-wise. I want to experience it.
Should any changes be made to the content to accomodate you and players like yourself?
There should be "easy mode" versions of everything so almost anybody can complete it for the story, like in the main numbered solo games. The real rewards, item drops, achievements and all that should be reserved for the actual content that is difficult. I'd still stick around for the harder stuff long-term, just like optional content in the singleplayer games kept me entertained beyond having gone through the complete story.
What kind of content would you like to see added in future patches for you to enjoy?
More story material. More substance. A good example are HM versions of dungeons that actually have a background to them as to why they're harder and our characters are revisiting them, or further Coil turns or Crystal Tower installments, or Hildibrand sidequests. A bad example with poor substance are Extreme mode primals, or even Ultima's Bane (which, while the idea behind it is cute, is not very compelling).
Ok, I'll bite.
What content has gated you, and for how long?
HM Garuda, from about 2 weeks ago when I did HM Ifrit.
Why are you stuck here?
I never tried, because am an "older" player and hate all these horribly and unfairly designed "twitch" fights. Bad for my blood pressure too. So I don't want to do them.
Are you upset about this?
Yes, not so much for personal reasons (SE can keep their relic weapon), but because I hate bad design, particularly when it's not caused by mistakes but by a totally wrong approach, i.e. choosing to forget that these games are played by people of all ages.
Should any changes be made to the content to accomodate you and players like yourself?
Yes, separating "normal" and "hardcore" content much more than they are now. One should have the right to play, enjoy the game and see most of the story without ever doing a damn Primal fight, which is only stressful and adds no real content. Primal fights etc. should be for the hardcore minority and, granted, offer the best gear. But there should be a clear progression path for common mortals, too. In other words: such fights should not be ever part of main story lines, nor gate access to decent weapons (I'm saying decent, not BiS).
What kind of content would you like to see added in future patches for you to enjoy?
More open world zones. Followup to main story line(s). Long quest chains involving all the Beast Tribes and granting reputation with them. More level 50 dungeons, with varying difficulty levels. Personal housing. A "wardrobe" system for gear. Swimming and climbing. Sleeping anywhere. Fishing rods with VISIBLE lines. Merry music in taverns. :)
Thank you for not spoiling! I actually haven't watched anything from Coil, I'm waiting for the Echo buff to be available for turns 1-5 so I can go in and try it under less pressure :)
As far as your wording, the way I read it, you were very sincere with what you were asking, and nothing you said struck me as offensive or in any way demeaning or boastful. With regard to feeling abandoned, nah, I knew the post was long, and knew that if you were as sincere as I thought you were, you'd read it. I didn't expect an individual reply because you're looking for multiple points of view and feedback, but thanks for thinking of me :D
T5 and EX primals. But I am not rush for them anyway. Even a single player game can have some really hard/unbeatable content for 90% of the player pool. (I never beat DMD mode in any Devil May Cry series)
Honestly, outside of fresh content for me -- I really hope that 2.2 changes coil over to CT's lockout system. Especially in 2.0 there was a large gap between high-end no lockout content (essentially HM titan, and to a much lesser extent -- Amdapor Keep) and coil. Since I can only do coil with 7 other FC members at a time (rotations can be made, etc... but all of these are more like work arounds than they are solutions) -- 2.1 alleviate this a bit with extreme primals , but I still want to be able to help more of my FC with coil.
What kind of skill would you prefer they focus on? Were there any encounters you ran into that made you think "this is just right" ?
A lot of people seem to loathe the idea of WoW's "LFR" difficulty level... but it seems like there's a pretty high demand for easier versions of story related content. For players who can't/don't want to overcome higher difficulties I can understand the appeal.
How do you like the current beast tribe daily quests? I haven't played with them too much, but I'm not sure they'll be my flavor. Luckily vanity will be coming soon. I do wish it came during the days I had to wear my Darklight tanking armor! I hated that stuff.
Wow, your group can clear T5 within 2 months by putting in 1hr per week. I highly doubt the huge majority of casual time spent players are able to do that. :( It's very possible maybe just 1% of the player base would be able to do that. I know it took my group around 2 months from fresh into coil to clearing T5, 9hrs a week, to it becoming a 1hr affair now.
What content has gated you, and for how long?
Turn 5, not sure how long
Why are you stuck here?
My coil group only really start to practice Turn 5 this month.
With other members of my FC I have got to Twister phase in Turn 5 consistently though I will be practicing with my own coil group now
Are you upset about this? (if so - why? and how can content be added for more hardcore players such as myself without upsetting you.)
Not really, I like challenging contents and with enough practice I know I can beat it with my group. We spend a few days learning and finally beating all primals extreme and it was fun even with all the wipe and late night runs.
Should any changes be made to the content to accommodate you and players like yourself?
Nope not at all, I like things as it is now
What kind of content would you like to see added in future patches for you to enjoy?
Jumping puzzles with rewards, battleground type PVP, more raid content, more interesting and massive treasure hunting, soloable dungeons.
Add more stuff for the Primal Ex, I have 2 weeks worth of Primal Ex token with nothing to change for.
I've got three reasons I avoid certain content in this game. I have other, real life obligations to see to first, my internet blows, and I've had enough endgame drama in other MMOs to last ten lifetimes.
I have a job, a spouse, children, and other hobbies that are more important to me than being on a videogame all the time. I've been playing two or three hours a week when I can find a free minute or two since early access, but honestly, seeing my kids' faces light up when I do silly voices while reading them stories is a lot more fulfilling to me than finally getting into a group that beats friggen titan. I also live in the middle of nowhere and there are two choices for internet here, slow as an old man taking a piss, or dialup, and this severely limits my ability to do anything that requires any amount of frequent dodging. For the moment I'm content to keep doing what I'm doing, slowly leveling and gearing up all of the classes to ilvl 70 or so. I've had some really bad experiences with endgame drama in the past before I was married and had more time to play, and it really has just put me off of endgame in any game in general. I'll be perfectly happy if I never see Coil, I may try out CT once or twice to see if my internet can handle it, but I don't feel the need to spam it for hours on end and put up with all the random assholes I may or may not be paired with who think there is nothing more important in life than having a perfect CT run and god damn anyone who gets in the way of it to a dark oblivion. I can live without that BS in my life. And don't tell me it doesn't happen, because I've seen crap like that firsthand in this game already on other content. I play games to relax and unwind, not to get yelled at by psychos who take it too seriously and have no patience for anyone that has the game on somewhat lower priorities than they do. That's stressful and exhausting, and really, no one enjoys being treated like a doormat for any reason, least of all for not taking a freaking video game seriously enough.
Thanks for the interesting questions and thread, Maye.
The focused-on skill should be simply that of knowing well the class you are playing and making good use of its abilities. The almost exclusive reliance on fast reflexes, which many young players call "skill", should be greatly "nerfed".
Apart from that, I don't think fights should focus on a single skill. I like a mix and match: my ideal fight is part DPS check, part tank check, part healing check and alternates phases where you can concentrate on doing your best rotation with phases where you have to concentrate on surviving. Mechanics should be present and what you should naturally expect from that kind of boss, without the ton of artificial contrived gimmicks that abound nowadays. So, no tank-and-spank and, on the other hand, no Titan please. Also, a good fight is when you wipe several items until you have learned it, then you get a working chance of winning it, then you win it (possibly by trial and error as opposed to watching a guide on Youtube). So, no one-shot and no weeks of frustration please. Life is already too short.
An encounter I think is "just right" in this game would be Isgebind in Stone Vigil. My opinion may be biased because I love fights vs dragons with flying phases, but it keeps you on your toes without being unduly stressful.
LFR? It's a blessing for players who don't do "real" raids" or, like me, don't do them any more, but care about story and lore. You get to see good content and often to have fun. LFR is not always so easy as many people think: it depends all on the quality of the group you find yourself in. You have a good chance of finding a bad group, embark on a wipefest and waste a lot of time and a lot of gold on repairs. On the other hand, if you get lucky you can find a fantastic group where all goes like clockwork.
I like some of the dailies enough, but there should be more variety. Dailies are good things to do while you are queued in Duty Finder. But... NO DAILY should be of the usual "Kill ten rats" or "Fetch five stones" type. No quest should be of that type, much less a daily!
Darklight armor? Yes, it's horrible. Really looking forward to vanity, hoping it's implemented well. In this game you never know, some things are done extremely well and some extremely bad. :P
