Yoshi explained his plan and his reasoning. The number of FC houses is limited. There's a limited number of houses for sale which is why the price is so expensive. So they don't run out of land plots really quickly.

So basically, housing isnt for all the players, just for the rich ones or the people who can play a lot of hours everyday to farm the money.Quote:

Sounds like a good plan, yeah.
I guess you can argue that dealing with monotony is an equivalent to challenge.
But why on earth have this on a video game?
If people want to feel like they are stuck in a minimum wage job grinding hours upon hours doing some mundane task for money, chances are they rather go out and do the real thing so at least they can get real cash for their troubles.
No one wants to do this on a video game. Or at least very few do.
The prices are just way too high. Video games aren't suppose to feel like a second job.
How much of your '10million' is from RMT gil, I wonder? Not saying you personally bought it, but from other people RMTing and then the gil ending up in your hands for one service or another. Perhaps you can buy a small house yourself and see if SE bans you to find out? :)
The FC hall issue wouldn't even be a problem if the wealth was relatively spread out among the playerbase, but the fact that less than 1% of the player base has 90% of the gil in circulation (excluding Gil Sellers) poses a problem for the average player.
Actually depending on how far along in 1.0's storyline a Legacy character got...twice according to Cid :P

You see, you ARE trolling. You want to know why?
Because you couldn't just simply thank the developers, without also insulting and baiting the critics. This isn't about thanking YoshiP. This wasn't written for his benefit. It was written for yours, and those who agree. That's the problem with the lot of you people defending this patch. None of you can seem to express your joy with this thing, without also insulting those who don't. Because its less about the game, and more about reaffirming your game choice.
The people who take issue with this patch only started off hating the patch itself. We don't need to mention the people who disagree with our criticism, and didn't until you fankids started pulling all the cliche BS out, entitlement, whining/crying accusations, etc.
Do people like this honestly believe in the stuff that comes out of their mouth?
Ooo! Did I just trip into the white knight thread, can't say as I blame you for huddling together..used to belong here too until recently...then I woke up.
Why is this such a controversy?
Fact: it is NOT a grind anyway. It is so stupidly easy to make money in this game it's not even funny. Even the smallest FC - even the "husband/wife" only FCs, will have housing within the first week, and you don;t even have to work for it.
I support the OP in thanking Yoshi for adding housing, but I also disagree that it is in ANY way a challenge or even a small workout. If you don't have the Gil already - then it's because you were sitting for the past few months on the market buying your way through levels instead of actually playing the game.
I completely agree. I wish he would have just thanked the Devs . . . I would have posted my thank you right below his. Instead, the topic became a debate over grind vs. challenge (which I replied to also . . . guilty!)
I am loving this thread right now. I may be on the flush but I could of laughed my ass clean off regardless. I could FEEL how delusional Aruseth look at Aruseth's avatar and it is just a wee bit cock-eye'd. I'm not gonna argue because if I don't have the time to make 10 mil gil in the month I sure don't have any more time for this thread. But for those who are just getting here. LEAVE, there is nothing for anyone with a hint of a LIFE or LOGIC here. I am drinking so f**k both. What is your excuse for still being here?
Kudos to Zantetsuken for pointing out the already obvious trolling. +1 good sir, I like your hat!
I've never understood why grinding is considered challenging. And it's not just gil that I've seen people advocate grinding for.
"SE needs to make the relics like in FF11, where it took six months to grind out all the materials! It was so challenging!"
Grinding is not challenging. The only "challenge" inherent in grinding is if you have the patience or free time for such mindless tedium.
Then, with this, comes the added "challenge" of praying your FC leader isn't enough of a douchebag to stab you all in the back after you help pitch in for some money. Truly, it's a mark of utmost required skill.
Challenge: a call to take part in a contest or competition.
A challenge does not necessarily require skill. So stop saying it does.
I have a sweetie and a life . . . no grinding for me. Doing WP over and over and over again is enough of a grind for DL. Chellenge? Nope. Because after the FIRST run, any moron could run that dungeon with one hand while eating dinner with the other . . . I know . . . this moron does it all the time XD
I don't want FC housing as the way to be for everyone. I want individual housing, not even rooms within a FC house, no complete individual housing.
Individual housing all the way and it needs to be affordable. The economy on my server has gone to hell as every decent item is worth nothing in the disciples of the land abilities.
I giggle at all the people who look at raising gil on the scale large housing will require and don't think this is a challenge, and yet at the same time cry to the heavens and rage from their rooftops at how impossible, unfair, unjust, cruel, despicable, horrid, flawed, abhorrent, and disgusting it is.
Working a terrible economy is far far far more difficult than defeating any boss in the game right now, at the very least accept the fact it's a challenge, and instead of calling it bad, accept you only don't like it because you don't have enough time, don't have the smarts, or the drive to play the market. While you're at it you can learn that there are more than 1 types of challenges out there. Bashing your face into raid content is one type of challenge, and playing the crafting/trading/selling content is entirely another type.
"Oh but random person on the internet" you might say, "Show us your wisdom, show us your massive amounts of gil, you'll surely be buying a house right off the bat, amirite?!" Nope, you're not. The FC I'm in is still saving, and will be for a while. Or you may proclaim how impossible it is, and give reasons why the economy on your server is just oh-so-bad. I'm not interested. I give credit to legacy servers, theirs are truly terrible, and I feel very bad for all the new players who started there, because you guys truly did get screwed on this one.
I think the main issue, at least from what I can ascertain is that, not only is the largest plot of land simply unobtainable even after six months of regular play. It is the fact that it was advertised as affordable and would be available at launch of 2.1. The second issue is that while the large houses do seem excessively expensive, the smaller plots of land are not worth their cost for reasons; they do not offer the capacity nor does it offer a way to be upgraded. If upgrading was an option. Most FC would buy the small or medium and then work up to large. But right now, it is simply a waste of content not to be enjoyed for at least 6 months. Can you imagine coil being there, ready to be played but you couldn't go in, because it had a gear check of i85? That isn't even hard to get. It's super easy. But godly time consuming. Meanwhile, here is this content.. No one is utilizing.
Sorry, are you implying playing the market for the price of a large plot is not time consuming? I realize youre being contrarian for the sake of justifying your opinion, but even at last month's 2 star prices it would take more time than you're willing to admit. And, yet again to reiterate, playing market is not difficult. No matter how much you wish to inflate your ego by pretending that making a couple dozen mil on the market was some sort off economic feat.
I think you need to learn the variations that "challenge" connotes. It doesn't have to have anything to do with "difficulty" (which of itself, is also subjective). Time and monotonous actions can also be a "challenge" on the individual level to upkeep (group or solo).
When i see the words "2 star" I already knew you don't know how to play the market at all. And please don't say you know how to "play the market" when you clearly don't. I sitting at over 20m asset, and I never touch the 2 star market. There are tons of other stuff way profitable than that. Only lazy/dumb person will go to the market look for the most expansive item and think if something is most expansive, it must be most profitable?! That logic!
There will probably be a lack of land being purchased and prices will be adjusted shortly after implemented. Just a theory.
Absolutely 100% love this comment. It's so true. Everything in this game save Twintania is SO. UNBELIEVABLY. EASY. The first time something somewhat challenging comes along (like making some gil over a period of time longer than a couple days) and people start freaking out. I suppose it's Yoshi's fault in the first place for making everything so easy, but still. Housing is a little overpriced, but not by much. FC's will still pay because they want the shiny things and the earth will continue spinning.
Every time someone complains about housing, please remember:
-You can get a job from 1-50 with full DL and a relic in about a week. I did this with BRD just 2 weeks ago playing only 2-3 hours a day (job :( )
-You can get a craft from 1-50 in a day or two. I got LTW from 1-41 yesterday and was only on for 4-5 hours. I made money during this process, did not have to spend a penny.
-You never have to worry about camping HNMs or being griefed by other players due to dungeon and DF system.
LFM for Static Coil- Must have relic+1 and FC housing large plot only PST!
Lol, what? You are the one think making gil = sinking time. I enjoy making gil and I don't think spending avg. half hour - 1 hour per day crafting/trading is sinking time. And please at least get a DoH to 50 before you talk about stuff like 2 star/crafting/playing market. Should do a better job on covering that fake epeen of urs.
Look, I can partially understand your point about working the economy being difficult or challenging. However, when picking up an MMO, I would hazard a guess that most people aren't picking it up thinking 'Wow, I can't wait to challenge the economy in this fantasy mmorpg!"
I will admit that there are probably some people that consider that a part of the challenge, but really, to make working the economy the barrier to housing is asinine. It locks out too many players from what is admittedly casual, fun content.
Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on the CT loot lock out? ^^
In promoting a game to those who might not like the term? Not at all desirable. To the neutral mind though? Especially if they're accustomed to MMORPGs, it shouldn't affect much at all.
You might be playing the wrong genre if monotony is something that is foolish to you. Practically everything about an MMO deals in monotony. Same old same old. It's all perspective of course in how fun it is, but what you're actually doing is the literal act of monotony. I typically like monotony, it's comfortable. So MMORPGs are perfectly fine with me. Heck, many things in life we do for fun is monotonous. It just depends on how much you like it. And of course, what that monotonous act rewards for us (that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, sort of thing).
