Maybe they'll start taking section 8 housing?
Maybe they'll start taking section 8 housing?
Ok lets back track a second, i asked you a question on where does it say "will not fall below half the starting price?" and you still haven't answered it. Regardless i think its pretty clear that the price gets reduced to 50%.
Lol so the prices are unreasonable but the amount of gil you have is irrelevant... lol come on this is ridiculous.Quote:
the amount gil I have is irrelevant.
Me saying that it appears prices will not fall below 50%, but it's unclear.
Yes it is, but what difference does it make what gil I personally have?
Does the amount of gil you personally have effect if these prices are deemed to be reasonable or unreasonable?
SoIs the phrase you're talking about. ok not something SE said, just an assumption you made. Eitherway i think we can now both agree that prices will drop to atleast 50%.Quote:
From 8mil start to 3.7mil, but will not fall below half the starting price?
Well i would say so, isn't that how SE based the prices? the economy on each server.Quote:
Does the amount of gil you personally have effect if these prices are deemed to be reasonable or unreasonable?
correct me if I am wrong but...
The way it is worded implies that as of 90 days, it will achieve no more than ~50% reduction. What about 180 days, would that be 50% again? (25% of original)
Are you CERTAIN that the price is designed to never go down again past 90 days, or are you merely interpreting that 90 days reference as such?
Some clarity would be nice.
When someone uses a Question mark at the end of a sentence, that means they are asking a question, not making a statement.
I do assume the cap will be 50% and that the prices will now fall below 50% (half) else they would have said "below half" not "half", or you would have thought.
Their figures however make this unclear.
I disagree, but if you believe that, then speaking as one of the players on my server with a lot of Gil, I believe the housing prices for medium and large are very unreasonable.
Shouldn't one of the perks of having played this game (being legacy) been being able to reach content like this sooner? why make us grind even more now, when most of us did grinding in 1.0? once again not asking for anything to be "Given to us" but I think having standard pricing across the board is only fair...
If you bother to do the math you'll see it is .14%. Let's say the starting value is 8mil, in order to get the values they're showing you need to do 8,000,000 * .9986 (.14%) to get the appropriate value for every six hours. If you tried to do 14% you'd be doing 8,000,000 * .86 every 6 hours which would make the price plummet to 50% in much less than the 90 days they outline.
I think we have to see the plots of land before we make a judgment about them. One thing that occurs to me is with FC members potentially numbering in the hundreds, and with alliances of FC potentially in the works, that 312 million gil plot is probably supposed to house something more like a feudal town than a suburban duplex. Also keep in mind Japan uses the yen so normal prices in Japanese culture have more zero's at the end than the equivalent item would cost in NA/EU currency. The gil is probably meant to be equivalent to the yen not the dollar or euro.
From the patch notes:
* The price will reduce a maximum of 360 times in 90 days and will will fall to half its starting price.
I think that's rather clear. It will never go below half of its starting price.
Now, find something else to nitpick or just go away since you're not really affected by these outlandish prices.
Thing has been said clear already.
Small: Costly but "reasonable".
Medium: Way to damn high, less than 50 just can`t make it.
Large: I dont even...
I wonder if SE has a buisness with RMTs, cause, right now, housing the only thing that is doing, is putting RMTs back on the scene, they are happy. Im from cactuar, and since the prices were exposed, RMTs have multiplied in the passing ours. They are the only ones happy with all of this.
Do we even know how much the houses cost?. Everyones over reacting to the price of land, how do we know we can't buy a small plot then buy a big house for cheap?.
All I have to say is....
I hope the personal housing is free.
My FC has been saving since they mentioned FC housing and we still don't have enough for a medium house. lol
Soon: A NPC located in every main city will allow you to have mortgages at variable rates of refunding and the ability to go under 0 gil. Subprimes crisis inside FFXIV ARR: Here I come!
Now you gotta be rich in a game to even have access to all the features of it.
The only way I could even think about justifying these prices is if they never applied the redenomination to our gil. But they did... So the only FC who can afford a decent house are 1) gillies or 2) FC who sold Titan wins when it was en vogue. I know there are people who (for some reason I can't understand) will stand up for these prices and try to throw around hateful comments about casual players blah blah blah. I'm sorry but why should people be FORCED to join a large free company if they just want to play with friends or suffer the punishment of not being able to experience a house for a LONG time. You can't even say "stop QQing casuals" because this doesn't just hinder casual players, it hinders every player aside from the super rich. People need to stop trying to stand up for this, because there's no excuse for this kind of rip off... I mean come on.
No you misunderstand what I am trying to say. I believe some of the sticker shock for western players comes from the fact that we see those prices as equivalent to our local currency, and 312 million dollars or euros is absurd for a piece of land. However to the Japanese 312 million yen is equal to about 3,120,000 million in western currency. That's not unreasonable for a quality piece of land. In fact where I live that wouldn't even buy you an acre.... Consequently most of us live in 'inn rooms' in the real world here. XD
I'm not disputing that to the players it's a lot of gil to collect, but if you think about the fact that a FC can number 512 players and you divide that 312 million between them it's about 600k per member. That's not impossible to attain.
If player owned housing has the same pricing then we have something to scream about.
Wait.. 512 players.. 600k per member... then again that is not what the majority of the FC(s) or members are like. I doubt most FC(s) have that many members nor most of their members are rich enough to cough up 600k each. So am I right to say that they based their calculations on - "FC can have up to 512 members and 600k per member is possible"? That is based on 312,500,000. For worlds that cost 625,000,000, it will be 512 members and 1,200,000 each.
If this is so.. then I really have no comments.. but..

It's not impossible to make the money, but...it's stupid to think that even after all the money spent, you still just get a tiny house. This is an FC house we're talking about. If we've got to complain about anything, it's about the incredibly small size. (I mean really, THAT's a house for a community of people?!)

Actually if I am not mistaken there are a number of FC that are approaching the 512 limit which is why they announced the potential for alliances of FC. As far as I know there are FC on my server that have several hundred members, or at least did in the first two months of service.
Again without having seen the land or houses I can't say for certain how housing on a large piece is supposed to work, but IF it is meant to provide housing for up to 512 people a small FC of say 30 people doesn't need a large plot. If I am correct here it would be a total waste of gil, and the effort needed to obtain it, for people to buy a home that large for a small group. The focus instead would be to buy the highest grade plot that fits their group size and budget.
The worst thing is that these ridiculous prices means Gil sellers have yet another angle to throw at players. I bet they are making a fortune right now.
In Soviet Russia, house buys you!
Far cry from the 825k that it cost in the live letter isn't it? Even as a legacy player, I still only have a bit more than a million gil. Not needing to dump it into anything now since legacy housing is so crazily priced. I am all for a carrot on the stick but that is a hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeee stick, so large the carrot is almost out of sight.
