It was an old AOL screen name. Never contemplated turning it into an OC but apparently even a google search only turns up stuff related to my using it a decade ago so I guess it's semi-original.

Love Final Fantasy VI. By far by favorite RPG of all time. So I wanted something from that, but a lot of them are over done. One of my favorite characters was Edgar. By far one of the best moments in my RPG history, finding out what Edgar did so his brother Sabin could live a free life.
In the World of Ruin, you find Edgar, but he acts as if he doesn't know you. His code name was Gerad. Then Rabanastre was a place in FFXII or so I'm told. Never finished that game. But it was a lot like my forum name, Alavastre, and I liked how it fit together.
My name is a weird version of a name from Gundam Wing, Treize Khushrenada. The name became Trayis. That changed to Trayus. That changed to Trayes.
My in game name is Trayes Atlas. Atlas is my cats name. My wife also uses the last name Atlas. Our FC name is Wight of the World (HEAVY). It is an FC for just her and me.
That is my story :D
All of my characters are based off of book references.
My go to is James/Jane Gatzby or Holden Caufield.
Others are Pietro Brwna (Beat the Reaper), Picine Matell (Life of Pi), Santiago Shepard (The Alchemist), Saleem Sinai (Midnight's Children).
Or famous authors. I was pumped when I got Isaac Asimov back in the day.
In world of Warcraft, I made a female orc warrior named Zai. In Dungeons and Dragons Online, the name became Tzai. In Aion, the name became Tzain and the character was synonymous with being feral. So when looking at a Male Mi'qote I went with the most feral look I could find and named him Tzain. Nival is just something I made up on the spot.
I straight up STOLE my name from a book by Laurel K. Hamilton.
Saika (in japanese means beautiful flower...) And Rose is actual my mothers name and her favorite kind of flower... Giving me the name Saika Rose
There's a guy in my FC called Stringbeanz Mcbeanz, I asked how he came up with it and he said it was the first thing that popped into his head..
Made it up. My character in Eve is Taak Coram, and I played it long enough that "Coram" feels like my real name. Figured I'd just continue that throughout my gaming career.
Was originally Len Coram, but I thought Llen looked prettier when written. That's about it.
Sayoko means evening child or something like that, just kinda a random name kinda want to change it. Senjougahara on the other hand, awesome. Good show. kinda NSFW?
Duh
and I like what it refers to. Breaking Bad: "The term to "break bad" is American Southeast slang meaning to turn against one's previously lawful lifestyle for one of criminal acts, usually at the cost of someone else's life or well-being."
Mila means gentle.
Cecilina means "Daughter of Cecili".
Cecili was my FFXI character. ^^
My name is based on the main character from the Wheel of Time book series.
There is someone else on my server named Rand al'thorr, which is the wrong spelling. I don't get why people don't pick a different name instead of picking a name and purposely spelling it wrong.
I grabbed two runes from my futhark rune set (I practice rune casting irl). The first two were my name:
Jera - Rune of Harvest, yearly rune
Teiwaz - Rune of the Warrior, spiritual warrior (from the warrior, Tyr)
My character has lived three times.
Once in FFXI.
Once in FFXIV 1.0
Once again in FFXIV 2.0
Made it three times so, thriceborn.
edit: incidentally, he was Twiceborn in 1.0 :P
My character's first name, 'Enkidoh', is how SE translated the name 'Enkidu' for FFV's port for the Playstation (Enkidu being Gilgamesh's rival and companion in the ancient Mesopotamian story Epic of Gilgamesh) - I chose the name at random from an old issue of EGM magazine that had a FFV guide in it when I needed a handle for eBay years ago. It stuck with me ever since. :D
As for her surname, 'Roux' is a French word for a sauce made from wheat, flour and butter, that my partner first chose for his character (no I have no idea where he got it from either ;)) - I didn't even need to think to give my character the same last name when I created Enki in 1.0. ;)
I've been Baneus online for almost 20 years. I always choose the Prime designation when given no option just in case I need to add more Baneus later on (Baneus Secundi, Baneus Trēs etc).
Bolt because in nearly every FF heroes have names that can be linked to an "element" (Cloud, Squall, Tidus, Terra)
Narshe because i absolutely love the city in VI.
Because I thought the hurricane season was over
Way way way way way way way back in the day, when i was still in highschool, i was playing Everquest Online Adventures. I knew a troll Shadownight named Razkar. The expansion Frontiers came out and i made an Ogre immediately, an Ogre Warrior, and i named him Bashkar, after my friend Razkar, and the name has stuck with me for over 12 years. And i never have a problem with it being taken. I love Bashkar. Great Tank name. Bashkar Stoneskin is my character.
Well, i was looking for a first name matching with Miqo'te lore, so i was i like: ok its a catgirl, feline? F'lhinna! ( pronounce Felina )
And my last name is just a slightly modified version of my forumer name which is actually a part of my real last name backwards.
I know, i know, im not very creative...
Cesil - just a girly way I spell the name Cecil. It is pronounced like "See Sull"
and Rapture is just Selphie's limit break from FF8 XD
Might change my last name though when they let us name change...IDK!
Interesting that your name came from Gundam Wing. Lol. Similar Story here.
When I was around 10 years old or so, I created a red Tails (Sonic The Hedgehog) look-alike character and named him "Trailblazer" of whom earned the nickname "TB" because Trailblazer is too cumbersome to say in conversation. I drew a lot and "TB" was the focal point of all of my illustrations.
I happened upon a Gamepro magazine once with an illustration of a character from Lunar Silver Star Story in it and I happened to draw it and unlocked the ability to draw Anime, however bad it looked. So, I drew a "human" variation of "TB" and figured that he should actually have a name instead of being a guy named "Trailblazer" or just being a being reduced to initials.
So, at the age of 13, I sat for the entirety of a day (because what else do geeky 13 year olds have to do) and contemplated a name. It came to me in pieces. But the foundation of it all was "I want to keep the nickname 'TB', but I want to make a name for it".
"Tahl" came from my own ignorant misspelling of what I thought was "Tahlgeese" which was actually "Tallgeese" piloted by Zechs Merquise. The second part "-don" I just slapped on the end of it as a filler, but it eventually grew on me and it stuck; thus "Tahldon" was born.
His surname for a long time was "Blake" and so it was "Tahldon Blake" for an extended period of time before I finally narrowed his racial traits down to him being a dark skinned half-elf with light grey eyes and navy blue colored hair who wields Magic. So then I wanted "Blake" to be more "elfish" but still resemble "Blake". It turned into some queer form of Japanese Romanization of it at first in "Buraiku", but eventually turned into "Boyoikoh" (Bo-yo-e-ko).
And so "Tahldon Boyoikoh" ended up being my character's name and "TB" is still his nickname as intended. But the root of it came from Gundam Wing lol. It's a thirteen year old character name I've been using for all games I've played MMOs and RPGs alike.
Orlandeu Dueler
Orlandeu came from a Final Fantasy Tactics character, Count Cidolfus Orlandeu aka Thundergod Cid. His job is a sword saint and basically has every Knight sword skill. Which means he's badass.
Dueler is also from FFT. It came from Reis Dueler. A dragonkin who can naturally transform into a dragon. I chose this last name because my main class is a Dragoon
Mazi'to Apkallu
Mazithra was my D&D from forever ago, the 'to means second son for keepers of the moon, and Apkallu because Miqo tribes are usually animals and coincidently I have a green cheek conure (a green bird) and I am quite lazy so bam.
