What are we arguing about?
you made it sound like ragequit s*x
Firstly, kudos to SE on achieving 1.5 million. Second, the ones saying "the game is dead" and other doom and gloom, what are you smoking? Balmung still gets queues when logging into characters. Every city is filled with active people. Every zone has tons of players running around, yes many are also fate grinding. Duty Finder is very active. I'd have to say the game is in way better shape than WoW is at the moment. As for bots, yes they suck, but they no where near 200k. I'd say addressed bots is somewhere around maybe 10-20 per server. About 30 NA/EU servers, and about 31 Japanese servers for a total of 61 servers, and even at 20 per server that's still no more than 1,220. So bot accounts probably range anywhere from 1k-3k tops.
Second, Yoshi a while back said major content patches would be about every 3 months after launch. So that would put 2.1 somewhere around november. And so far Yoshi is saying still around november. So possible will be about maybe mid to late november. But I still have plenty to do. I only recently hit level 50 on white mage. I still intend to level my other classes. I still need to do the primal HM's for the story. So this content will last me well into 2.1. I am in this game for the long haul. It's a good solid game. And the nay sayers cannot convince me otherwise, especially when I can login at any time of day and see full zones even queues to login.
Well, it's nearly 2 months after launch and I'm not hearing/seeing the same exit talk that I did for SWTOR, so that's a good thing.
About this thread, two comments. First, only SE *knows* the state of the game. Individuals, especially from the same world, can only know how busy their world seems, and maybe even only certain areas of that world. Was SE counting active accounts? Actual subscribers? We don't know but that changes every month.
Second: People. It's not enough that a person or his friends don't like the game and decide to quit. Some people seem to need "proof" that it's a "disaster". Maybe these are the kind of people who get disappointed that a weather disaster didn't kill more people than it did, I don't know. Plus gamers aren't exactly accurate. Diablo 3? Some will swear it was a failure, yet it sold 12M total, 2M copies during holidays 6 months after release, and just ported to consoles (~1M sales so far?).
ye man of little faith. It's just because they sourced famitsu, that omits that part, probably because they don't have any idea of the relevance of the patch and just went for the big number. That's what you can expect from most generalist sites that don't know a game well. On the other hand 4gamer (which always has some very solid MMORPG coverage) has the full info, for instance.

The part in the bluish rectangle is actually the official press release in full.
"2013年12月にはPatch 2.1の大型アップデートも控えており"
"Large patch 2.1 is also coming in December 2013"
There's no assumption involved. At all. It's kinda silly that I have to go look for another source when reporting on an official press release.
Good thing i had some popcorn when I came in lol
The deal with MMO's is people leaving and resubbing when new content comes out. After Twintania has been downed, there's nothing left for most players to do so they'll leave until the next content patch and follow the same philosphy until the next patch comes out.
There's nothing wrong with people letting their subs lapse when there's nothing to do. The problem is letting their subs lapse and never coming back because the game is never getting anything new.
The initial hype is gone is why. The new game smell is wavering away.
You know how every MMO has the rush of people, then it start declining.
But it's not hitting the rocky roads yet. It will in December if this is when 2.1 comes out but not horribly.
But the news is, it'll only diminish for a month, then you get people coming back. You just have to pray and hope
that the content will release with lots for people to do for another 3-4 months. Eventually, people won't bothering subbing if
they release boring things like "New Primal Modes." That's not interesting to me. It's not new, it's a rehash of a Primal fight.
And I don't want to deal with Titan's silly ass anymore lol.
3 modes max and no more. I hope this game turns out really really fun in later patches. We just gotta wait till
like...2.5 for thing to get super interesting.
People don't understand that most MMO gamers put a lot of hours into a MMO after buying it, and then they start playing it less, gradually, as they sink into a routine. This of course reduces density. Considering that, the fact that many servers still have regular queues (i can't have an evening without one) is impressive.
I don't know about the game dying, but i did fates in Eastern Thanalan yesterday and it was pretty bare during prime time. Which is odd for a friday. No que to log in as well. I think for the chain fate with the rat guys, there were like 5-6 people. I have noticed that the areas i go to are not very populated, but i just assumed they were off doing other things, like dungeons and such. I guess only time will tell. :)
as someone thats been playing since phase 2 this seems an unacceptable wait. i wouldnt be surprised if they are intentionally delaying it for the holiday season...BS. the thing i dont get is isnt lightning's hair with the lightning fate??? but no salon till december?
Precisely.
This game is superior to 1.0 under every objective point of view. Anyone who denies it flies in the face of reality, and knowingly so. Saying that it's "much worse" is honestly bordering the ludicrous.
Scratch that. It's ludicrous, no "bordering" involved.
Defining them troll is actually merciful on their judgement. Knowingly trolling is better than actually believing in it.
December to get a raid that we should have already -_-
and yet still NO link to the direct Press Release... SHOCKING...
8-27+7 = 9-3 (90k/3012 fix). 9-3 + 90-91 days 12-2/12-3. So while December is still a way off, I'm hoping they're just misquoting and we get an actual release in November (maybe in time for Thanksgiving lol)
They can either Quit Crying and just flat out Quit (wouldn't bother me), Come back when 2.1 hits, or just continue to be spoiled children throwing a temper tantrum (Likeliest option). I highly doubt the game will lose a 'ton'. If they keep above the 400,000 Subscribers, that's all Yoshi cares about.
Game is going to lose a ton of players in the next month and a half.
Yup, and not cuz the game is bad...just cuz everyone is eventually running out of stuff to do.
It'll get to the point where I log in to cap my myth, log in for coil and then that's it. Yay. also lol @ no patch for almost half a year. 4.5 months is a long time >.<
I agree a bit with running out of stuff to do, even though I'm 47 and about to do the Vale. However, didn't the game just get patched? They didn't add any content or fix the big issue but it was still a "patch". 4 months is outside of their 2-3 month goal for adding stuff but I think they probably got some vacation time and fixing everything since launch. Give it time. Before the game was released, everyone was saying how much content it would have and the patches would keep people entertained. Not so much now even though there is lots of content outside of the Coil, even though it's the only raid right now. Unless people have all crafting and gathering to 50, then they should have stuff to do. Make money for housing, go for achievements and gear. Maybe people could stop playing for a week or so and enjoy GTA or Pokemon. Live the content in their own lives, then head back to Eorzea.
I still think it will be last week of Nov/start of Dec. Perfect timing for me!
You'd be justified to cry foul if you actually heard / knew the patch is coming on Christmas eve or something, that'd make it actually 4 months.
However, without knowing more about this, patch dates are (based on them doing their maintenances on Tuesday, of course):
3rd
10th
17th
24th
31st
If they decided to release on the 3rd, or even on the 10th, it's not that far off the "3 months mark". I believe they'll aim for early Dec as opposed to late Dec, we'll need to wait and see (and they have bugs to squash for all that process, as well).
What is more shocking is that someone is so interested in sticking his head in the sand after he's been offered the data from the same press release from two different sites (one of which directly copies the press release word by word mind you).
Lemme teach you a short lesson about press releases, since it seems that your knowledge on the subject is a bit lacking, and you're using that lack of knowledge to shield yourself from information and attempt to spread misinformation.
Press releases are, in 90% of cases, sent directly to the press via email. That's why they're called PRESS releases. There's no "direct link" and there's no need to be one, as they're by definition made to be diffused by media outlets, and not by the developer directly.
Here's a few links to more prominent websites that published the same info from the same press release.

But of course they all "misquoted" right? There's nothing to misquote. The wording of the press release is very simple and straightforward.
Your petty attempt to disinformation is simply appalling. I've been reporting news on this game since when 1.0 was announced in 2009, and this is the first time I see someone so much in denial.
I've just recently reached end-game and found out I got a lot of stuff to do.
- Getting my DL.
- Crafting a bit.
- Getting my relic.
- Play the Market.
- Then later try my hand at Coil.
- I REALLY want to try another class, but FATE grinding is detering me.
But crafting and sub-level is not content. Some people do not like Crafting in MMO's and people want like 1-2 classes and that's it.
People expect you to do every single little thing in game and it's still not fun. It's just not.
People want what they paid for and are continuing to pay for.
The gap from August 27th to Dec xx is too far apart when they should of released a raid to begin with.
HOPEFULLY, CT can be the end all be all for a while until more things come in. And Primals. Mostly Titan since Titan is the most pain in the ass Primal, the new mode should be a toughy.
Edit: Also, Legacy users have it worse. I feel bad for them because they really don't have much to do.
Most already capped things and the only class they had to do was ACN.
