FF14 not exiting properly since update

Same issue. I have to go through the Task Manager to make it stop running.

Same here. Every time regardless of when I log out, won't exit and have to kill the task

I am also having this issue... exits to black screen... must 'end process' with windows task mgr.

I have the same problem
i run in window mode and when i exit the game it goes to a black screen and stays
there.
need to kill with the TaskManager to exit all the way.
since newest update.

Saaame here. Glad I'm not the only one.

I have exactly this problem also as some others on PS3. When "Exit Game" it goes black and game freeze. Have to manually shut down the console and reboot it. Log out to title screen works but not the Exit game. Started after the last update aswell.

This ^ can we get a response on this crap or what? Damn they respond to the dumbest complaints but you have a legit issue and they ignore it..

Since update I have also been experiencing this issue. It will sit on black screen with cursor indefinitely on it, and I have not been successful with task manager in closing it, and twice now have had to restart my computer to get it working again.

Logging out and Exiting seems to work.
Exiting the game, will cause black screen (can only be closed by task manager).

Started since the hotfix update.

Gotta love ALT CTRL DELETE every time due to the black screen I get when logging out

Can't believe this is happening .. bring up Task Manage with CTRL-ALT-DELETE and kill the ffxiv.exe from the Process list. Never seen this fail to kill anything as long as I have admin rights.

I accept you'll not end it by trying to close the Application, but if that would work the app. wouldn't be stuck exiting in the first place.

I want to add this also happens on PS3. Sometimes the PS3 will beep three times and reboot afterwards.

I really hope this isn't affecting my PS3 because I'd hate it if something happened to it because of playing your game.

I have the same issue as well, on 2 separate computers and on 2 different ISPs just like some people here.

Same exact thing happens to me on my PS3. I'm worried about it damaging my PS3 as well.

I have the same issue too when i log sometimes i get a blackscreen ever since update

Any attempt to exit FFXIV results in a black screen on my PC.

When the ps3 beeps 3 times and resets its almost like the system doing a self reset because something went wrong... If it was going to damage your ps3 or the files it gives a warning stating that it was shut down incorrectly and runs a scan...

Yep same issue here had the same problem in phase 3 beta. Except in phase 3 I had to be logged into the game for 3-4 hours before id black screen on exit seems now I just black screen on exit every time no matter how long I am online.

btw dont let it sit there, it will start cooking your gpu

As I already said before in thread I have same problem, but I tried yesterday to ONLY "log out" from game to the title screen. Then on PS3 I holded the PS button until it comes to the menu to turn off game / controller etc. Choose "Quit game"
from there. I tried it numerous times by now and that works.

You guys on PC could try similar. Choose the "log out" only then just try quit the game however you want. Window mode could just try " red X " in corner or whatever :) Or try kill it with task manager , ESC etc..

Hope they fix soon though..

I thought this was fixed, but just ran into the same problem again tonight. I went to exit the game and got a black screen. Had to manually close the process with the task manager.

It doesn't always work,

The game is getting stuck in an internal thread that won't terminate and allow the game to exit gracefully.

Log Out, Exit - always exits fine
Exit - always fails

I'll keep rejecting this idea everytime its posted.

Its not a guaranteed thing and seems to depend on how long you play for.

I have to add a 'me too'. Black screen upon exiting game. Using a PS3.

Same thing on PC, ever since 2.05 I believe, or maintenant the day after 2.05. Exit on a black screen that can only be killed with Task Manager. I'm using Windows 8.1 if that helps.

Only works for me if I log out in the inn.

Horray SE for another job well fucked up. Keep it up guys and maybe you'll get enough people to quit to kill the game...

Same issue here as well. Found no reliable way to deal with it. Logging out then exiting does nothing and it seems purely luck of the draw when it will exit properly as it will do so on some occasions.
