It's not about SE security, its about users security, a lot of people visit dodgy websites unsuspectingly installing keyloggers on to their computer.

Also many people have dynamic IP addresses which are changing all the time, you can't lock these people to that kind of system or you would never be able to log in.

so... explain to me , i visit tons of porn and dodgy site and i have no token register and never got hack but my gf never visit any of those just to play FF and how she get hack? we both install webroot anti virus

Best, 100% sure way to never ever get hacked?

That just seems unfortunate, sorry to hear...well the purpose of this thread is to point out that we should all be responsible of our own see security and not have to rely on the publishers all the time, they have provided an option for us to take up to enhance the security of our accounts and some just look it over and not do anything

It's easy to steal someone account who uses a security token. However, it's less likely since the time window where the token is valid is short.

To steal the account the phishing site that gets the player to enter their username, password, and token would imminently need to login to the account.

To keep your account safe:
1. Never trust any email. If you can't tell it is a phishing email then don't follow links, instead open a browser and navigate to official site.
2. Never trust any 3rd party website. Never enter your login info on these sites.

I never said she downloaded torrents or any of the sort.

I'm just simply giving you other things she "MAY" have done, not what she "DID" do.

For all you know she could have had a keylogger sitting in her computer for god knows how long, and those pricey anti viruses never picked it up.
It could be many many things! Sometimes even safe websites get keyloggers planted in them.

Antiviruses is only as good as how many times you make it scan in my opinion ~.~ As well as, your security is only as good as the person behind the keyboard.
