There are a lot more people on steam than on lodestone, and lots of them aren't the typical MMO gamer. Like I said, it's a good word of mouth opportunity.
Trophies were introduced at the beginning of 2009. At that time, Sony would require developers to add Trophies for every game to be release from that year on. You can read more about it here: http://www.videogamer.com/news/ps3_t...uary_2009.html
Edit: (Dang, i should've read the next page... Adol beat me to it... lol)
We already have achievements on our Lodestone profiles. If they do anything, it should be adding effects for when we earn the achievements in-game + an interface to view our earned/yet to earn achievements.
I think this is a good idea, only for the fact it will release the game on steam. Possibly have a steam sale for ffxiv on pc the same weekend that the game comes out on ps3. This will bring in a large number of people. I don't think I have ever seen a steam sale where the game on sale hasn't been the top seller for that week, even if it looks like garbage. If the game comes out on steam, and if they do have a steam sale for it, not only would it bring in a ton of new players on the pc version as well as the mass boost we will get for the ps3 version but it would also add a new outlet for new players to purchase the game down the road.
Of course, no matter how good of an idea this is, it probably won't ever happen.
Love this idea! :)
I run the game through Steam and I love it. I have to do a fullscreen setup due to having a dual graphics cards. (2xATI 5770) and having the Steam overlay with a web browser is great! I used this constantly until I just recently got an iPad. Now that sits next to my PC while I play for wiki lookups.
Don't forget the tf2 hats
