I'd be quite worried for my accounts security when using such third-party programs. It may help latency, I don't know first-hand , though I don't really see how technically (read everything and its opposite about Battleping on google, and their website doesn't really explain much in the way of methodology), but I'm not sure it's worth taking the risk.
A simple VPN may be a better solution if you're having ISP issues with online gaming, even though it usually lags as well compared to a barebone connection (assuming your ISP isn't blocking some ports/protocols on purpose, as some shamelessly do in France for instance).
Yeah I am not sure a third party program is very safe, I've been told by others a bit more knowledgeable that it's not.
At the same time, I'm in Australia and it seems I have a ping around 270-300ms and "over a maximum of 30 hops". I've been able to get through all the MSQ dungeons, but I've always had issues with avoiding attacks despite being quite quick on the mark. Whilst I never had this issue in Tera (strangely enough), I'm really concerned for doing any end-game dungeons and disappointing a lot of people (and myself).
If anyone has any safe way of decreasing my latency I'd really appreciate it.
I could not care less about battleping services as no matter how good is your latency this game will always feel clunky and unresponsive, at least as long as SE states that the following things are "working as intended":

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...less-rewarding.

What battleping does and any other services like it, is that it will route your data through there servers to provide a a more direct route with less hopping about for example your data (for what ever reason) may jump through 80 hops to get to your destination , with this it may cut it down to 40 to your destination, thus lowering your ping. However if you have a crap connection nothing will help you anyhow, and if you are living several thousand miles away your data still has to travel through main data lines anyhow you may or may not get drop in latency.
Services like this will never lower your actual ping.
For dodging things, the rule is: if whatever it is finishes casting (as in, cast bar is done, animation of cast finish begins, whatever) while you are in the aoe, then you are going to be hit. It doesn't matter where you go afterward, you didn't dodge it and you got hit. The same exact rule applies to you against enemies.
For example: that titan video. The player did not move fast enough. Titan's cast bar at the top of the screen finished while he was still in the plume radius; whatever else happens after that is irrelevant. He was already dead. Keep in mind you can do the same thing against them too, by waiting for the cast bar to finish and then jumping into the plume. You won't take damage.
Lag is not an excuse. The game requires you to move that fast. That's just how it is. Welcome to hard mode.
This is besides the point really.
What is the purpose of graphical markers if they don't line up or even sync with cast bars ?, their whole purpose is to notify the player to move out of this big ass circle.
I will be glad when this game gets addons I can at least plonk a massive cast bar bang smack in the middle of my screen without me having to squint at a damn cast bar in the Focus UI that is half obscured by text.
You guys can try and defend this BS all you like but fact is almost no other game out there suffers from these mismatches. (its been a problem since phase 3)
Is it really that hard for SE to have the floor markers appear half a second sooner ? and actually end when the cast bar does !
