It's funny because tanks get the most grief of anyone from other players.
I've certainly suffered this "one wipe and I quit" attitude from tanks and others when I've been using DF... but to share a nice story on the other side yesterday I had a proper derp moment during Garuda HM and died... which meant the whole thing went south pretty quickly. D: Feeling bad, I /grovelled to the tank... and she did the same back! It was a stupid, simple, gesture that meant "Hey, we're in this together" and it made me feel a lot better about myself :)
I want this to be a game where I fail sometimes and need to learn how to succeed. I don't want it to be "easy" and I don't want to win every single try.
I'm playing a tank... I'm going to be patient with people and supportive. And when people give me a hard time, I'm going to tell them to grow up and help others with constructive criticism, not destructive.
Happens across all jobs, many ppl are impatient or feel they are doing everything correct on their end. They will get a reality check when they start doing actual Endgame dungeons and content. 1. Gear check. 2. Knowing and applying their job role correctly.
Ampador Keep and on requires more focus, party cooperation and fewer mistakes.
This behavior is not relegated solely to tanks, although a good tank will generally keep a party moving and avoid such problems. It sounds like this run had more to do with his inability to hold aggro than the group's ability to handle the fight.
I hate running into tanks with an over inflated ego... I had one that refused to pull off me (the healer) because he said I shouldn't be pulling threat anyway... -_-
I don't know the OP but this statement bothers me
First, aside from being 50, level doesn't have a whole lot to do with agro. Paladins get an enmity enhancing ability aot 40, but it reduces their damage dealt and damage taken, so I'm not sure if it's an enmity gain.Quote:
However, when you have such poor armor that healer runs out of MP, when when a Black Mage 1 level lower than you can pull aggro and has to stop in the middle of the rotation so you can catch up, and when everyone is acting very nice towards you... and doesn't say anything about your tanking, you don't get to just leave without saying a word leaving 3 people hanging on the queue for 20 mins.
It's not always the tank here. It could be DDs pulling hate and eating up the healer's mana and that might not be the tank's fault. That blm should have been sleeping things, leaving the tank with one target to primarily focus on. I find it hard to believe the tank couldn't hold hate on one target.
Oh, I see, OP is the blm. This should be fun.
Often tanks get fed up with attitudes of others, but to quit just for trial error and people learning isn't right.
IT goes both ways. Often tanks get attacked if they go down with ill advice (especially from those hwho have yet to clear the dungeon not realizing we are in for extra items or exp only- and have already cleared the dungeon).
Some advice. Don't get cocky with anyone, it shows weakness and doesn't make you a bad ass.
If people spout off at anyone (not just myself) I mute seeing their garbage in chat. They are communicating poorly, so no need to deal with missing communication in the first place.
Sample run with Juut..... so an so. Archer with typical strafe tactics that doesn't realize. Trying to regrab hate off you because you start off as so as tank runs in DOES IN FACT cause issues. A tank will run into aoe or beams since you got cocky and used poor skill tactics. While the healer is healing you and the tank sitting there after 32 secs waiting on a heal is an issue (dd's issue). so don't expect them to take a hit chasing your ass down because you lack the ability to watch gauges, spawn cues, and he is already at the spawn point of popping adds before they materialize.
I find it humorous I pulled in replacements on the final boss, and we cleared iit right away, for my now 6th time.
Those of us who are mature adults are not going to tolerate childish calling. They will mute you ignore you and not deal with it.
Some of the rage quitting is caused by that. Other is caused by pig headed people who think they know it all. Im patient, but not going to tolerate attitude of those who have to use a game to feel strong in life rather then actually be strong.
Quitting because things are not going wrong actually builds better tactic in situations. Probably why some with attitudes still have a lot to complete, haven't beat chimera, and aren't just waiting to finish the relic upgrade.
1. DD, learn to DD. Watch hate, don't be switching off targets to act Elite just to cause an imbalance. Basic tactic, common since, use it.
2. Healer should be primarily healing a single target. It annoys me when a DD get's ELite.. and goes down then blames tank. Get over zealous on purpose, and you WILL go down. Cover isn't going to be wasted on you, ill run back and toss it on the healer before that happens.
3. Don't get cocky with the tank, healer or others, it does nothing. You are not elite, you are not perfect, or you probably wouldn't be viewing cutscenes for the 5th time on the dungeon.
For me marking targets is the most important thing that I need the tank to do. Otherwise I will end up pulling mobs and causing problems for everyone. I have also experienced tanks that think they own the world. I have no problem with them being the leader but it frustrates me when they tell me i'm not playing my role right or I have the wrong pet out. Its OK to ask someone do something but not cool when you are told what to do. That goes for all other party members as well.
Sharing my experience: Sastasha run, I and 2 friends (both THM) found a MRD tank by Duty Finder. This tank does not talk AT ALL.
I as WHM always pulled enmity on first cure. Tank does not try to claim adds. They would just focus solely on the monster they are hitting at. Later on, I learned to halt my cure until all mobs were claimed. This worked very well and the tank never yelled at me about HP.
One more mistake of this tank is that when any of the mobs lost aggro on tank and started chasing mage (namely me, healer) they did not try to get it back, but just focus on their main target. While fighting the mini boss (captain something) tank only tried to kill the 2 minions while letting the captain beat on me. I had to run around and around while THMs kept me alive.
Tank was also slow in targeting next enemy after the one engaged died. But I could clearly see that they were trying, and trying hard, to do their job. Like, they would use all skills they got, trying their best to keep that one enemy on them, and trying to kill it as fast as possible. And when the tank is not occupied, they never let enemy attack other people.
Later in the run, we wiped once in the last boss room because I cured too slow. I apologized with auto-trans, and there was no reply. We tried again and won with moderate difficulty.
I am OK with people still learning and trying to cooperate (even if they do not talk). It's just those who are rude and does not play nicely as a team that bother me.
