Server maintanence should probably not be done at primetime in NA.

You must not realize that the server groups are purely a geographical location. At no point is someone required to use a certain group. Moreover, there are plenty of non-Japanese people on the JP servers, to the point that during "prime time" in the US, they are just as full as the NA/EU servers. So, perhaps you should consider the concept of a globe, timezones, and the free-movement of folks between the servers before you weigh in on the topic. Not to mention the problem with taking down the various worlds in a piecemeal fashion. The strain on the remaining servers, given the complete lack of geographical boundaries, would be absurd.

No matter what time they choose to update or do maintenance it's gonna be inconvenient to some regions.
America is not the be all end all of everything dude. This is a selfish request.

Do explain what the heck you are talking about? The Japanese opinion should not be considered about the timing issue? The European opinion should if they play on a American server? What the are you talking about? And it's my understanding that before ARR US and EU shared servers (i could be wrong), if that is the case you can't think you are more entitled to have maintaince hours moved to another time when its EU prime time as they didn't had a choice before with servers.

And really, its not the end of the world that you have to suffer trough some down time at prime hours. In the last week i hardly been able to play at the prime time hours here in Europe cause of the queue's being so full you couldn't even join the queue....and this would be hours before the American prime time. I think its prime time all day seeing how fast the queue fills up.

i think what needs to be done is lock out jp servers to people who do not need to be using them and same thing the other way around. it sucks but i think it might make some of this better for all affected once everything is fixed.

JP and NA/EU servers are both being upgraded and more server worlds are being added to "Both" server hubs. The very fact that you think they shouldnt worry about the japanese either makes you A> A racist, or B> Completely ignorant.

If you havnt noticed the flux of players in both JP and NA/EU servers the entire game itself is full not just the NA/EU servers. To pick the time they did is the most viable option as that is the time in NA/EU that they have the highest peak players, taking it down then ensures that everyone is waiting and there is no obituary load on servers right before shutdown. Its just a simple matter of getting things done right when all the employees are still actually awake and not tired from a long days work.

Stop complaining about when they do it and just move on. Servers are going to be down no ifs ands or buts, and when they do come back up expect a short few hours of 1017 as everyone will be trying to get on, So just think of it as a good time, since the maintenance will be done in the early AM's for NA/EU, when you (if you even work) get off of work, the servers should be in stable gaming ability.

What difference does the maintenance time make to half of us? We can't even get in 3/4 of the time...

No. What they need to do is take away the Segregation that they put by labling the servers NA/EU + JP. If all servers were in a "Global Name Plate" and were just based off the server name, then no one would be racist about the issue, nor would we have as much of a influx crowd jumping to the nearest JP server during peak NA times. The very fact that they labled JP as "JP Servers" is absurd being as its not just JP, its a JP located server hub, but its used for ANYONE, primarly those of the eastern hemisphere of the world (i.e. asia, australia, japan, etc).

Get rid of the server region lables and well have less segregation

I tried the Jap 'servers' and I had the same ping/connection as the NA/EU. It's likely that they are in the same DC (someone said Canada)
The reason for the time is, like someone already pointed out, that the devs and part of the tech people are in Japan, so they work during their work hours

I think the 'segregation' is in place just so you know in which servers you are more likely to find people from your geographic area, for linguistic and time reasons (time as in, if I log on at 21:00 I know that there will likely be more people on the EU 'servers', because I live in Spain)

they can separate the timezones just simply by posting your latency to the server (much like arrstatus.net does) so that players can choose the server with the best latency to thier region, same concept without having to specifically give a lable to a zone and potentially cause biased opinions.

as for the other post. The NA/EU servers are located in Montreal, Canada out of the Eidos studios recently aquired buy SE.
