Personally, I felt anything smaller than a dodo (pre enlargement) needed it, but beyond that I felt it was just ridiculous.

I like the new sizes and hope they remain that way. Targetting has nothing to do with it for me. I just like the feel they give to the game now. Also, if you do one of the new quests in Ul'dah, you'll find that npcs have noticed the change too. I thought that was kinda neat.
Anyhow. No complaints here. I like it. Even the huge toads and disgustingly large gnats.
