Don't even bring up that name, ffs...

The only thing with "Is ought amiss?" is that it's spelled aught, goddammit.
I'm fine with the English the way it is

Dude, really bad example.
Both of those phrases mean the same thing. The English phrase just has 'flavor', like the pirate speech used commonly in Limsa. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that sentence, aside from their choice of spelling as it should be aught.
To me it actually sounds fancier than if they were to just put in "What's wrong?" I'm pretty sure that's what they were going for.
"Is ought amiss" sounds better than "What is wrong?" to me. If all they did was make the speech more flavorful, I'm not sure what you're complaining about. I'm gonna assume I'm glad they changed it.
I'm fine with the English translation, or "localization" even. Japanese is boring. There aren't a lot of ways to say the same things in different manners like in English.
I had to do a double take the first time I read one of the npcs say "colder than a dead whore's crotch". 10 gil says you won't find THAT phrase in Japanese.
You complain about the translation being horrible but your only example shows nothing is wrong. They talk with a very old school dialect in Eorzea, this is why the translations aren't done exact word for word to give the world character. Everyone is not meant to speak normal 201st century english/japanese so I see nothing "bad" about them.
Also stop "feeling bad" for others who don't care, we enjoy our stuff as is.
I didn't have any issues with "is aught amiss?" until I heard the voice acting for it. I have no objections with any of the script/translations/whatever it actually is, but that voice acting is TERRIBLE.
