try googling up a MB gpu compatibility list. some sites you can input a MB model and a GPU list which work will come up.

The only problem I have with ATI cards is the way they do their drivers. They have gotten a bit better but in the past they were total crap.

I had a similar experiance, so I called them over the phone and actully talked to someone. I also made sure to tell them about my chat experience and they said they would report it to their boss.

Which really won't end up with any worthwhile benefit. The house that SE's using is either not paid well enough or is a rival.
