Sound like PVPs will be pretty big in ARR <3 !!

The PVP skills need to be separated. Look at how GW1 and GW2 handle PVP for an example.

Also if they do add PVP it needs to be a work in progress and constantly updated, otherwise it'll be unbalanced. If they don't update PVP skills at least monthly, I have no faith in PVP.

ya pvp kills would be separated i just don't think pvp would be much of a big deal in FFXIV. If we get a lot of PVP players then ya it would be big for sometime but it may just end up lacking at the end for PVE stuff.

FFXIV is more about story/PVE like ffxi but i don't see why pvp can't be good too as long as there lot of people doing it if there not then it just waste of people to keep updating it.

Seeing how Yoshi admitted to playing the "opposition" (GW2, WoW, Tera, w.e?) lol and that Yoshi admitted that he is a huge fan of pvp I think cross server PvP will be very likely (obviously similar to what you said but I'm just say - probably more then a hint :P lol).


I like casual pick up and go PvP and I will look forward to it - I am extremely leery and interested in how the class/job system plays out in PvP though.

I missed the bit where Yoshi said PvP would have its own spells? Where was that?

Well I'd imagine there'll be two type of PVP modes. The huge server vs server, and the more balanced 5v5 (6v6, 7v7, 8v8?) mode.

Server vs Server doesn't really need to be balanced, past how the PVE skills are I mean.

Can't wait for PVP :) I hope the areas we can pvp in have like castles and stuff! Also I wonder if we can fight people cross server. o.ob

Was a interview can't find it atm but he said pvp would have diff spell. Like White mage what would that person do? just heal and cast two element spell over and over again? so he making sure whm have a fighting chance in pvp.

He said at the current time he does not want cross server pvp because he want us to fight within our own world. The PVP system in FFXIV is base around the Company fighting with eachother to control outpost areas in the PVP zones there crystal type outpost. I'm guessing the reason we fighting for it becuase it may give out energy or crystals and in the storyline we made deals with beastmen to give us there crystal but there no longer trading due to them using it to summon there primals in to the world. Getting off topic but ya it's storyline base so he want us to fight with people we know in our own world. He give the idea of allowing top pvp team to cross server fight with other top teams.

But he can change his mind noting is set in stone with it come to cross world pvp :)

i like pvp but i think pvp mmo's and pve ones should be seperate in general, like warhammer ..pvp, ffxiv pve. i'm worried cause as you can see they hyping it and obviously they consider it content. i would of rather have seen 1 more 25man pve content launching over pvp. mmo's with pvp i find usually lack in the pve and vise versa. it's like an excuse to slack or something ...it's like yeah we got crystal towers guys and some dungeons, and are awesome pvp zone that you can spend 6months doing while you wait for new content ...no thanks. i get just as bored of pvp unless it's forever changing and being added new stuff to it and usually its not. but it's still a very cool thing to have. i'll have fun with it for sure. but again it ain't a replacement for real content in a pve mmo.

I would hope they have the ability to alter skills once you enter a PVP instance, so then outside of PVP they are normal, and inside PVP they are altered to be balanced. It would be perfect.

FF Onlines greats on PVE is old news, but never heard of they being great on PVP's , if yoshi pvp dev-team can pull it out a all rounder noob friendly and with good in-depth, im sure it'll bring in wow/gw2/tera and others players.

In short pvp need to be a good selling point for ARR for bonus subs, if not others will just think is FF mmo another pve only mmo's

They have new spells only for PVP i said that a few times :) so it's wont be same spell alter they be new spell for PVP. Sure i bet some spell would look the same and do the same thing but it still a new spell.
