From the few tidbits i heard about the ES mmo it's going to diverge from the traditional ES systems and follow in the "the usual" hotbar/turn-based combat system, and making it not so open-world explore-at-your-own-pace. which turns me off of the idea.

though i haven't been keeping up with the info and have only read from around the time it was first announced, so there might be better info out now.

That is why Yoshi-P has said that this time SE will do a big marketing campaign for 2.0. We all know that server may go down on November 11 and the data will take probably a month to transfer. But Yoshi-P has mention on previews interviews that they will not repeat the mistakes of 1.0 Beta and SE will not launch 2.0 until they are completed satisfy with the Beta testing and players comments.

I think 2.0 will probably launch at the end of January to end of February. SE will do a big marketing campaign for new players and get Beta players that like to post in YouTube to keep current players excited about 2.0. Plus think about the current players, most of us are FFs series fanatics that regardless of the time 1.0 is down; we will comeback and give 2.0 a try. Maybe not at launch but we will comeback and play it.

I understand how pessimistic everyone is and I know well that SE's track record this past year contains frequent patch delays but making snide comments like "SE wont be able to launch 2.0 til March" is beyond rude it's just plain insulting.

You can tell me I told you so when the time comes, i'm just saying from Yoshi's point of view these negative comments really aren't helping in any way shape or form. Sign up for Alpha, then sign up for Beta, be a good tester and report the bugs that you find and maybe *just maybe* you might for once have a positive effect on the development of this game.

You are right. Yoshida would like to have a Christmas release. Having said that he will not jeopardise the success of the game by forcing it. SE has already made that mistake. With the projected testing schedule I do not look for release til early Feb. Yoshida will take the time to get it right.

Remember in an interview not too long ago they stated the open beta would be in January. If that's true then launch should be February/March at the latest.

Also worth noting that the game's biggest audience is the huge domestic market that's interested in coming back to ARR.

The Japanese don't go mental at xmas and start buying everything up like we do. I was there for 4 years and xmas wasn't anything special.

Maybe a JP player could give their opinion, but I'd assume that winter holiday sales won't be as peaky for them as they are in the west. They'll probably look for another strategy.

Plus, If all the MMO developers went for xmas then they'd be competing with the console titles, which isn't good.

who cares how long it take's if it means we get a better ff14 than the last one they are working as hard and as fast as they can yall cried about 14 bk in 2010 it was rushed and it was crap so some of oyu are crying about it taking longer to come bk out i dont know about yall that want it rushed i dont i want a better than 11 and 14 is now game

Why are they rushing and slamming the door in November on 1.0? I would think they would wait with the final migration until the New Year or sometime during the first quarter.

If you have 50 in EVERYTHING, whats the point in 2.0?

Getting 50 in the new classes and/or experiencing the new endgame?

I'm not that concerned about downtime. If I don't make it into alpha, I've got loads of books and games to fill my time with.
