Is there a crafter that would like to opine on how lazy they are? Sitting around skillessly making HQ items and risklessly trying to meld them?
Crafters don't need to buy gil. :P There's plenty of drops on sale that require a lot of gil. Maybe you should craft so you wont' be so jealous of those richer than you are.
BRD - 7/12 slots crafted.
Most of the other classes stand at about 50% crafted with 20% GC 30% drops.
Again, a vague number, but it is clear that the ratio is still skewed to work towards crafters.
I'm mostly against the system because I play BLM/BRD/WHM and probabally am getting screwed the most by this system.
I have almost all crafts at 50. I craft plenty. I'm not jelly of those with lots of gil. Making money isnt hard (HQ crafts ahoy) which is part of the problem. Why should something so easy and be more based on luck than anything else be so rewarding? I'm just annoyed that the system is exploitable, where as dungeon/primal/militia drops are not.
How is it exploitable? How does crafting lead to gil selling? Last, I heard, gil sellers are using DoW leves not crafting.

Head: AF head/Grid officer hat/Paragons crown.
Body: Crafted dbl meld pie body/Af/Serpent sergeants overcoat
Hands Dmeld gloves dex gloves if you need them
legs Militia subligar
Feet Darklight boots.
I'm not even gonna count rings and shit. but your gear can go a lot of ways. Crafted gear isnt the only way to go.

Because i believe there should be an even distribution.
EG: 20 Crafted / 20 Questing / 20 Dungeon Chest / 20 Primal Fight / 20 Other
My opinion on it as I enjoying focusing on as many aspects of the game as possible, as opposed to spending vast time in town.
