News on the thing released in English is so sparse Other FFXIV Youtubers like Meoni, who focusses on showing off glam, mounts, and minions and Arthars who can speak Chinese, have nothing to add since the last major update. I don't have the means to emulate it myself.

One of the biggest issues is 9 out of 10 videos or articles on FFXIV Mobile are entirely focussed on how upsetting it is seeing the quantity of quality glam content and the warp speed of their updates verses Retail, and almost never anything on its own merits as a game. That's probably an extra factor that's hurting it even with people that have free access. Retail is in Chinese, too, and they're up to date with us now, too.

I hope they at least get the 2.5 story and get ARR finished.

Thank you. I thought, that they might use the new client even for the non-mobile version of FF14. Because it should be based on more modern tech. The desktop version is still a DirectX 11 software and DirectX 11 came out in 2009.

But if the things are really so bad then it might never happen.

It's less about the Switch 2 being able to run the game as it is right now and more about what restrictions that brings for the future.
Because while the PS4 and Series S might be easy to drop at this point if required, those consoles are 13 and 6 years old respectively.

And as you've said, those are the consoles with the weakest hardware. If they develop it for the Switch 2 they will have to support it for several years and who knows how long it's hardware is going to be "enough".
Granted old potato PCs would be in the exact same boat. And with current hardware prices nobody can affort any upgrades right now.

It's not the Switch 2 hardware that you have to worry about. You really think they will try to increase the system requirements of the game anytime in the next few years with the price of upgrading/building a gaming pc skyrocketing?

People were expected to do ARR in 2025/6 on a mobile. How exactly is that meant to be engaging? (and I thought ARR was ok..but that was back in 2013)

From what I can tell, it's not really the same ARR from 10 years ago. It's more of what ARR would be if it was made today, instead of combination of trying to salvage an MMO and throwing stuff at the walls to see what sticks.

Yes. It's actually properly streamlined and had even more of the extraneous stuff the devs added to pad it out cut completely. Arguably too much was cut out, in fact.

Which is another one of those "Why not do this with retail?” things.

After watching Mr happy talk about it holy cow! How are you not gonna refund players their housing lottery money? That's like the only thing our garbage housing system does right xDDD.

That being said please carry over the glamours system please please please!
