We should be able to swap jobs within the same category in first minute of instance

The suggestion is to let people swap Jobs in their role, Tank can swap to another Tank, Healer to another Healer. DPS is kind of broad though I don't know if it would be just any DPS Job or within the specific type of DPS (Melee, Caster, Ranged)...

And also only at the start, the original suggestion is 1 minute, but I think it should be until the first pull.

Overall, it would mostly just be that you queue in as a role, and then choose your Job when you see what Dungeon, Trial, Normal Raid or Alliance Raid the roulette decides to throw you in that day, as long you're leveled and geared enough for the place on the Job you want to use.

They have a point though. Wouldn’t such a thing just cause people to bitch at each other for 60 seconds about who has to swap?
“Change all ranged to BLM/Picto or we vote abandon”
“I’m not doing pure healer you’re doing pure healer ”
“Dark Knights suck I’m not healing you until you change to Warrior”

The actual likelihood of that happening is debatable, but this is FFXIV. The developer’s idea of solving ‘tension points’ is doing everything in their power to remove them at all costs. This seems like it would introduce a pretty major ‘tension point’ - whether or not the tension was actually justified.

This is one of those suggestions that I like in theory, but in practice, I can see a lot of potential toxicity. I strongly encourage people to think through the “what could go wrong” scenarios and how they might impact the game.

I think this is a good idea, provided it is role restrictive and provided it has a restriction on item level, e.g., swapped class must still meet the minimum required item level. Would be nice being able to swap from Pictomancer or Black Mage to Summoner or Red Mage if healer is struggling to stay alive.

I don't really think there is a risk of increased toxicity, as I think any toxicity that you may be able to argue as a result from this already does exist.

I could see players queuing tank or healer for faster queues then whining about wanting to switch roles once inside, but so long as there's a restriction to only allow changes within job type it should be relatively fine.

Sure, theoretically you could have people demanding people switch to a 'better job' and kicking them otherwise, but kicking someone for a disliked job in the hopes of getting a better one is currently a possibility anyways, and also something that can get you in trouble for doing.

Otherwise I think it could work. I can't count the amount of times I've ended up in a roulette, particularly for a trial or raid, and wished I could switch jobs to better compliment the party.

It's already against the rules to vote kick without a proper reason, and "not using the correct Job" isn't a proper reason. It would really only be a matter of would the GMs enforce the rules.

You could make it so when a roulette queue pops, it shows you the icons of the jobs in the party before you click accept. And during that 45 seconds you could swap around within the same role and see if others swap around within their role. The game would of course prevent you from clicking Accept if you switched into something of another role or not high enough ilvl.

In any roulette content (including extremes) it doesnt matter which dps you swap to. You will always be able to clear it damage wise, even if as melee dps on a ranged position you get downtime.

And i think that is a fine benchmark

But i do want a PF setting with it that either allows it (default), or disallows it.

With unique jobs as requirement, changing jobs can be problematic, as it can also break synergy. But in an extreme, it doesnt even matter if you have duplicate jobs (limit break generation still goes on, unlike savage). So changing should be free.

And it saves up the need to have the unique job check in the duty itself, which is generaly important for savages. This can then be done/resolved during the pf itself if people still decide to change (which is common enough to happen). If you have a good party, they will stick together on role reasignments (although, tbh, if this usualy comes up in a party, its mostly likely to collapse anyway). Even changing jobs mid duty if it was allowed is going to become a problem to some players (it indicates a lack of 'know your job well'). - and yes, statics will just have the swapping allowed, which is at least nice for them, although prob still useless

Im just worried for the few days when the obvious mistake of allowing someone to go blue mage. Even if it doesnt happen at the initial patch, its just waiting for this to go wrong.
