He's making that up. It has been clearly stated that whatever you do in beta will not be transferred into live.

Thats usually the case for most games and was for the previous ffxiv-alpha's and beta's. But i dont remember SE saying something like that about the "Free Trial Period" for 2.0. Idc if thats the case or not, but you all are making stuff up, which isnt confirmed.Quote:

You're able to save your beta progress and transfer it onto the 2.0 version.
now a days, beta is not even a testing tool. It's an advertising gimmick to make us water over passes and then talk about how fun the game is with rose colored lens.
I personally don't want to play the beta, because it spoils it too much for me.
For example I played the FFXIV beta in 2010 and started in Limsa Lominsa, and the second time around wasn't really exciting. It spoils too much. I have to say that my beta experience was a lot more fun, because we were discovering things for the first times, giddy, happy, excited.
In the meantime, after they take down FFXIV 1.0, I will be trying GW2. Sure, GW2 may not be a long term game for me, but I'll just keep an active account anyway since it has no subscription fee. Then I will be ready for FFXIV ARR when that comes out. GW2 will tide me over until then.
The PC-Beta Phase is marked as "Free Trial Period" in the Roadmap from October to January. So which Beta are you talking about? And btw.. Beta is always Free Trial.. most people wouldnt pay to play a Beta.
If you are not going to look for the quote, you shouldnt pull out statements like that if you are not able to back it up. Like i said before, i dont care either way. Beta progress probably wont be saved, like usually. But doesnt change the fact that SE neither confirmed or denied it.
