I would love a GW2/WoW approach to storing glams, especially since I have no more space because I have multiple vibes for multiple jobs and I refuse to give them more money for retainers considering I STILL CAN'T WEAR HATS AND I STILL CAN'T USE HAIRSTYLES I PURCHASED ON THE STORE PRE-VEIRA.

Whether that can be done seems to be impossible to get a straight answer for. Can they or can't they? Could they? Maybe, but I think we all know that at this point of time SE is really dropping the ball on FFXIV despite using up all of the funding we are contributing to it.

But WoW's system can't hold dyes right? A short time ago I heard that this is the point. WoW has no additonal data to this list of items. FF14 allows dye data, which means much more data to store on the servers.
That's what I heard about it. I would like to have both! But maybe both is not possible? :c

This is not an excuse. WoW is running on an engine that's a whole decade older. The transmog system actually originally started out as something very similar to what FFXIV has now - you needed to keep a physical item in order to use its appearance, and they had a storage solution called Void Storage that basically acted like a second bank with a gold cost to store and remove items but was intended to be used for transmog items. A couple years later it morphed into what it is now.

A modernized glamour system is one of the big things I've been clamoring for in this game. I loved making transmogs in WoW and going from that to this is just horrendous.

My dresser has 100 spots free and I never use most of the stuff in there. There aren't enough rare pieces in the game to warrant not sweeping through it. Toss the cloned stuff.

im not sure in what world you think that is less data to store than the current system



the only issue (apart from the data storage) that would arise from a WoW style transmog system is how it'd play with dyes.

would you need to re-dye everything everytime you use an item for glam, or would the system be robust enough to be able to apply a dye to the collection data? even then it runs the issue of what you do if you want the same item with 2 different dyes. (i have duplicate items in my glamour dresser in jet black and pure white, because i dont want to spend the money to change the dye depending on what im using it for)

It was not.

Transmogs/Glamours were added to the game in 2011, but at the time they worked almost exactly like FFXIV glamours. They didn't move to the current appearance log system until 2016.

Okay, I'm going to need to be a bit fair to Square Enix here; When Transmogrification was added to WoW, it quite literally was the Glamour Dresser system of today, albeit slightly more clunky because you had to take an item outside the dresser (Void Storage) to use it for glamour (Transmogrification) - and back in. Which cost gold, and it wasn't exactly cheap by the time's standards either. 100 gold per transaction (or per item, not sure), and 1000 gold to even unlock the system.

For reference, the fastest flying speed in the game at that point in time was 5000 gold.

That being said, I completely agree that the system needs an overhaul.
