More over, another observation I've seen is that almost no player doesn't want this to happen. So I think this restriction is a developer preference, rather than a player preference.

Pleeease remove role restrictions on glamor!!
There's no other excuse besides that they don't have the technical know-how, resources or man-hours to work on the glam systems and combining the glams.
The Viera hat and Hrotgar hat will most likely be solved within three years by some voluntary angel from the dev team that does this by working overtime for us.
This response drives me up the wall because they have an NPC archer wearing FULL DRAGOON ARMOR in the DT role quests. Not to mention the numerous other impossible glamours NPCs can wear because they do look good.
They're actively acknowledging that no glamour restrictions allows for some good glamours. But the idea that "Oh no what if a black mage wears full plate?!" (Which they already can do) is the reason we can't, is infuriating and insulting.
How do you spell "Excuse" in japanese again? Lol. Because that sounds heavily like "Yeaaaaaaah, we're a bit too lazy to do that, its possible, but naaaaaaah" This smells like that "Nah, cant have thief, because its not a "hero" would be awkward"
Fast forward to Dark Knight and Reaper lol.
You do realize though that one, he's a Voidsent so gear does not even apply, and two, his design and character are taken directly from a past FF game where character appearence was literally dictated by their Job? (And his design was directly based on Yoshitaka Amano's artwork).
Also he's a villain anyway and antagonists usually didn't give two kahoots about things like 'Job appearance', which also justified by this trope.
Really, I agree glamour restrictions should be loosened, but a FFIV villain design is not exactly the best proof for the arguement.
Unrestricted glamour is in their "in case of emergency"-trump card to win huge amount of goodwill should they deem it necessary. I'll die on that hill.
This gets my support 100%
Mages/healers should be able to wear Armor, tanks should be able to wear robes or light Armor, dps can wear bulky tank Armor ect. Why place limits on Jobs when we already got silly multiclass glams, or multi class glams that clearly fit other job types ect.
I am very much aware of who the character I posted is
it is merely a funny connection because of how much of a non-sorcerer Golbez looks
If you want directly in game examples - fierce tyrant attire and archfied attire
for glamour restrictions, I would be fine if the only thing restricted would be artifact armor
