Not everyone has time to form a static, and a lot of PFs are locking the caster slot to only PCT. I get every job can do all encounters in this game, but you gotta have common sense to understand that the average player will go for what's easiest. Its not fair for other casters, as the OP mentioned.

And that is an issue with the player base moreso than the job? Granted Ultimate being the only shinning example of the disparity. Black Mage and Pictomancer in Savage is a trading spot, if not overlap for how much damage they bring to the table. As we have 13 DPS jobs, if PF is going down the road of "as easy as possible" and trying to force the meta of the top 3-4 DPS, then it is going to be an issue regardless. Even without PCT in the window, why bring a RDM/SMN instead of a BLM?

I'll agree to a degree that it is a job that has unique bonus of the downtime with motifs, but that is only in the situation of fights like Ultimate, anything else it is a point it is going to trade back and forth as intended from it's design get go. It was designed to be in melee and BLM damage road as per SE. So they are not going to take it out of the running for top damage jobs.

Sure, nerf it, I don't care. Most people aside from top raiders wouldn't care either, as long as you keep the job identity what it is.

Even if they nerf PCT, they should still make additional buffs, and changes to jobs to address numbers, and flexibility. So many job look so much worse compared to what PCT can do.

I know jobs generally have a history of being strong on release but it feels like PCT's the most egregious about it. Honestly, part of me wonders if they made PCT as strong as it is because they were worried about how its "cutesy-leaning" aesthetic would pan out with people. Or maybe that's just me because I personally don't like it. In any case, I wouldn't mind seeing it be knocked down a peg or two. Been asked to play it a couple times during map runs and while that's not necessarily a problem in of itself, I know there are people out there who are being asked to do the same thing in more serious content and I really don't like the mentality of playing something just because "it's strong" over playing something that you vibe with and genuinely enjoy.

PCT's aesthetics have been extremely polarizing, with people either loving it or detesting it with very little middle term, personally I am on the camp of loving it, I was on board the picosecond(or "pictosecond"...?) I saw Hammer Stamp and the fact I can beat up Gaius with a cartoon hammer, it's hardly my favorite Job, that's still DNC by a mile, but I deeply enjoy PCT's vibes.

It just still amazes me that the focus is knocking down a new job cause it is as effective or more so than a job that has been around for 10 years. Square has been clear with even patch 7.05 that PCT was built under the premise to fall in line in top of damage. Know it's harsh to say but it was always going to be in the same point of becoming some meta job that parties would want, especially given how much damage Black Mage or Pictomancer gives to a party compared to other jobs in caster job.

Will not discredit it again has major bonus with downtime like ultimate, but I think that is more a design problem with all the jobs and how they handle downtime in fights that have multiple phases.

Theres always gonna be a strongest class and so what? Other classes are still fun even though they’re not the strongest.

It makes no sense. Instead of nerfing one job they are spending countless resources and man hours buffing 20 other jobs to compensate. Hopefully this doesnt take away from their work on 8.0 job changes.
