ever since the ceo of square took special notice of ffxiv its been going completly downhill. i never thought id see the day where game pass was needed.

You can't even really say that SE cares at this point. PC doesn't require any sub to play online. PlayStation made a deal where they didn't have to have PlayStation plus to play xiv. How is this different? If SE cared then Microsoft players wouldnt be having to double dip just to play. The "beta" servers are going to be the live servers of the game. Not some exclusive Xbox beta servers. So if people without gamepass can play a trial then they could easily have people play the full game just the same. It's not some infrastructure or spaghetti code thing on Microsofts end either. It's just greedy. And SE is just as responsible for allowing it to happen this way.

That makes no sense. FFXI didn't require xbox live gold on 360.. what gives?

Microsoft has a rule that you need to pay them for Gamepass to play online on Xbox. I don't think SE can do anything about it.

what did yall expect? Microsoft is one of the most predatory companies out there. i'm not saying its right, but i'm am saying you would of know this months ago if you applied a modicum of common sense.

SE runs the servers for ff14. Not microsoft. This additional subfee is absurd. Unfortunately nothing is too absurd or scummy for the gaming industry.

I mean, considering, since Yoshia himself said they wanted it, but only if it was free like Playstation. And that's why it took so long because Microsoft wouldn't cave. So with the announcement ment people expected it to work the same as it does on the Playstation. My hope is that it is a miscommunication, but if it's not, then they really screwed up.

I was there 3 years ago at fanfest (watching live obviously), when the other ceo walked out on stage and said "we will spare no expense to make ffxiv great" or something to that effect, and now ever since then, more and more terrible predatory things have been happening to this game. with this being the cherry on top of what- i fear. is a much deeper uncharted iceberg.. so no. im not spreading missinformation. im calling it as i saw/seen/see it

also accusing me of trolling, because you see (which i btw dont) some wierd issue with my grammar? (you know what grammar is right.. its how you phrase things not how you spell em) is just completly irrelivent to the entire topic
if it would make you feel better i can list all the predatory things ive seen happen ever since that JP around the world fanfest in may 2021

I mean they aren't wrong, Prior and as of this new CEO taking over XIV has become more predatory. The company has become more predatory lmao. Like we have FF7R, and them holding story behind gatcha games, XIV Putting way more content on the cash shop over just letting us earn it in game. The NFT and Crypto focus the CEO himself has. Not to mention SE losing 2 billion. So while it's not solely FFXIV, SE isn't doing great and charging us more money as a result.
