What? This happens in pve? That never happened to me in in pve, But l do run into that in pvp. If the perpetrator gets reported enough, gm will do something. My friend told me a gm contacted Him regarding a guy that spams quick chat to mock other people. So, just report them
Hey OP, it sucks that this happened to you and I'm sorry you had to deal with it. I'm also sorry that so many of the folks on this forum are lacking in compassion and have made the choice to pour salt in your wounds; sadly, that's par for the course here, as the moderation is very hands-off. Whether it takes place out in the physical world, in an online game, or in a forum, it sucks when people go out of their way to make another person's day worse. I agree that this kind of behavior should stop.
The overwhelming majority of FF14's players are casual players who are bad at the game. And broadly speaking, nobody cares. We're all just having fun pretending to be fantasy characters who can cast fireballs. Like in any community, you will periodically stumble upon elitist jerks or trolls, but these players are drastically outnumbered by players like you who are doing their best and just aren't very good. Heck, you're actually probably better than most players, since you're actually looking up guides and practicing your rotation. So don't sweat it. Even if you're not playing optimally, you're doing more than good enough for anyone whose opinion is worth caring about.
So to answer your question about whether players will want to keep playing with a bad player who rarely talks: absolutely! It's well-known to the point that it's a meme, but FF14 is indeed renowned for having a very positive and welcoming community. You don't have to be good, just do your best. If your best is bad, then that's fine, especially since most of the time bad is more than enough to beat the normal content you're engaging in.
And personally, I'd rather have a full team of quiet, "bad" players like you than have even a single jerk. With bad players, I can have a fun time as we all try our best. With jerks, that's simply not possible, as they tend to sour the whole experience.
My best advice of what you can do is the following:
First things first, get away from the negative experience. Staying in an actively toxic, antagonistic situation will magnify any feelings of anxiety, humiliation, etc that you're feeling, so use the agency you have to take care of your well-being and happiness by removing yourself from the situation that is causing you distress. Turning the game off entirely is what I'd recommend, but if you prefer you can simply leave the duty; just know that you can't leave a duty during combat, so if it's something like a Normal Raid the only way to get out immediately is to turn the game off.
Next, I recommend distracting yourself with something entirely different. For me, that's usually a different game, one that doesn't remind me of the recent negative situation I just experienced. But if you managed to exit the duty and really still want to play FF14, you can go do crafting, gathering, Gold Saucer games, etc. By doing something different than what you were previously doing, you make it easier for your body and mind to recognize that there is no longer a "threat" (because that's how our bodies treat this kind of thing) which will facilitate you coming down from your heightened state, back towards a healthier equilibrium.
I hope these kinds of experiences don't happen to you again, but if they do, I hope that what I've written here will help you stay happy and healthy. Best wishes, fellow Warrior of Light!
Isnt this grounds for harrasment? Just report them and take the mark off.
I've seen people do it if someone keeps dying in an alliance raid. Someone puts a triangle on them for a dunce cap or makes them target to ignore. It's stupid.
If they're obviously friends, same server, emoting back and forth, or displaying that otherwise then it's fine. They're just screwing with each other. But there are people who will actually sweat someone dying in an alliance raid and I just have to laugh. And raise the target anyway.
You guys still falling for the one post trolls?
