I just want a large/mansion interior and I don't care what size the outside is; larges have the most unique layout and they are the only ones with an open vertical floorplan to build into.

Actually apartments have THE BEST item to space ratio as you can currently place 6.67 items per block (size of a Floor Mat), while you can only place 2.24 items per block in a large house and this is excluding spaces that you can't decorate without floating such as the large hole on the second floor which many decorators enjoy using the most. If you include that, the item to space ratio for large houses is even worse.
I close off most of the house anyway. I literally just want that vertical space to build into; mediums and smalls do not have that space. If you close off most of the house except for the ground floor and the open vertical foyer, larges easily have the highest decoration to space ratio by a long shot. My medium right now uses all the decorations in a space smaller than the square footage of an entire small.
I think what you mean to say is that larges have the most space, which nobody disagrees with. Item to space ratio refers to number of blocks divided by of items which is absolutely abysmal for large houses. Whether you block off space doesn't change the fact that it's there. Maybe you personally would only decorate the foyer if you had 2000 item slots but many people block off the Foyer because decorating the entire mansion with 400 items and make it look well-designed is extremely difficult due to the poor item to space ratio.
This is a wish list! lol
Since this thread has gotten bumped again, I should mention that another translation was posted by LuciferNacht over in general discussion:

In that one, they use the word “glamour” instead of “mirage.” But they’re also mentioning “spaciousness.” As I said in the other thread, it almost makes me hopeful that they’re going for even more customization of interiors than we thought. Old translation makes it sound like “ok you can have a large inside and a small outside.” New translation makes it sound like something that will allow us to control the layout a lot more… the spaciousness comment would still make me hopeful that size is involved. With the removal of the pillars being present in both translations, and the second one saying glamour instead of mirage, I’m wondering if it’s more a way of hiding or even changing or moving windows and such on the inside. Or even an interior glamour system like we had for the island exterior? Who knows?Quote:

Patch 7.x will see housing interior capable of setup without pillars, and a specification that changes how you change your house interior to something completely different from what we have right now (and also completely different in terms of spaciousness)
-> Something like a housing version of glamour settings?
Unfortunately it’s not planned until the Dawntrail patches, and so we’re not hearing much clarification about exactly what they’re planning to do. But I’m cautiously optimistic!
