Also Japan has a huge culture centered around brand cross promotions for all sorts of media unlike the U.S, so them having a collab with something like KFC isnt anything new. You see stuff like that all the time over there. I kinda wish the US would also do neat cross promo stuff like that for games. I mean it happens sometimes but not to the same level as Japan.

Oh well. I think the easier solution for this is to allow non-JPN players to be able to earn the emote somehow in-game but theres probably some restrictions or brand limitations or contracts or whatever legal mumbo jumbo in place.

The true reward is that by not having it, you're aware that you didn't have to eat KFC.

I'd want the promotion but the last one they did in NA, they put dumb restrictions on it like a limited number of emotes, and it took over a month to generate new ones.

Oh snap, if it ain't another 5 second non looping food emote for people to stress over, brought to you by "Yet Another Service You'd Never Use Otherwise" inc. If it isn't Grubhub, the delivery service with such insane fees that most people dropped them years ago, then it's KFC, the chicken company that gives half its visitors the shits. You'd normally never use these services, but now a meme emote is locked behind them, so here you are! Steeling your gut for the hit it's about to take and opening your wallet for some biscuits that'll make you nauseated and overcooked chicken so greasy it'll turn your stomach inside out.

People in areas without a KFC who aren't willing to literally drive 70 miles for some mediocre chicken, don't fret! Soon you'll be able to purchase your emote outright ... from scalpers, for 100 dollars! Scalpers, please be advised! Act now, before Square... *checks notes* runs out of codes! Yup. That happened last time. Ran out of codes for their own event! Imagine! Wait, we don't have to imagine. It happens every time somehow. But this time it'll be different. It won't be like the grubhub incident. Or the butterfinger incident. This time you'll buy the food you never would've bought, and you'll definitely be compensated for it. Or at the very least, you'll act fast enough to not be one of the guys who gets screwed. This time you'll get /eatchicken, and you'll use it like, one time, and then never use it again because it doesn't loop and it's actually really situational. Good luck everyone!

Maybe the next promotional event will be a crossover with Uber! Take Uber 7 times and get a 4 seater taxi mount! Imagine, droves of sweaty stinky great community members leaving their homes and "grinding" uber 7 times. Angering drivers with their inane babble about Y'shtola and maybe even getting lost far away from home. Only to redeem their code and find that-- whoops! It's been 11 hours since the event started, so they're out of codes!

Yeah kinda sucks because in this case it's something hubby and I have in our takeout rotation so we'd end up getting KFC here and there. So we wouldn't have to go out of our way for something like the Butterfinger promotion. I'm just lucky he likes Butterfingers. But what can you do with regional giveaway rules.

If you are on a JP account, and just happen to have moved to the USA, figure you can probably load up the local version of grubhub, order the item from your old hometown, ask them to send a picture of the code as delivery proof and keep the meal.
Then redeem it on the JP version of the mogstation with a VPN that says your still in your hometown.

Anything short of that probably won't work.

Lets face it, we're second class to the devs, we're not going to get nice things. ... we're still better off then EU and AU folks though, they REALLY get shorted.

But seriously. It's probably for "eat in" only, and on Christmas, because that's a thing over there... kind of wish it was a thing over here, but I don't want to make anybody work on any holiday.

This is more of the case you should be blaming your own region of being no fun. Stuff like this happens regularly over there, and not just FF14 or Square. I think the last KFC event was with Genshin Impact, and it was HUGE! I think there are a lot of reason why you don't see those happen here:

- As someone who grew up in Asia, I don't remember people had slang or look down on people who love to enjoy Western stuffs. After moving to American I was suprise there are such thing called as the "weeb" culture and treated like degenerated. Even anime wasn't quite normalize until like a decade ago. I remember back in my country, we all happily shared Disney tapes in middle school. But in the US when I told people in highschool I watched anime, I got funny look and laughed at.

- Despite originate from the US, pretty much all the fast food chains (like McDonald and KFC) have better service and taste oversea, far better than the "shit" we are served in America.


So these kind of thing have a lot to do with how people treat the brands locally, and also corporate America don't exactly give a crap about customers. Like ... "seriously", go to youtube and watch a video on how these events are hold over Asia ... they actually a pretty bigger deal then I think most people in the west expect. And you'll understand why they probably never gonna do something like that here.
