The biggest FOMO is that you'll never get to experience jobs when they're actually complex and unique in HW and SB. We will never play non-braindead jobs ever again (other than BLM).
Honestly out of all the online games I have played, FFXIV has perhaps the least amount of FOMO.
For example, we rightfully complain often about how short seasonal events are, but the upside is that you just need to log in once, do a 15-30 min quest, and you have everything. In alot of other games where you need to farm currency to get anything over a number of days. Not saying its a good approach, as I have said many times I would like events to be longer and have more earnable items including past rewards (Rather then justs ticking them up on the cash shop*), but it feels like currently they do approach events purposely trying not to invoke FOMO.
Thats not to say its absent from the game at all, I would love if we could play past event missions somehow, and fear of loosing your house due to not logging in is painful (Though more symptom of how bad housing has been handled in FFXIV then anything else.) It sucks and it should always be criticized, but so long as the aim is to make money almost every online game will try it in some shape or form.

Please keep up with the conversation. This wasn't me complaining that I can't experience it. Merely pointing out that there is more content that you can entirely miss out on.
I play slowly because I enjoy my pace, and don't really care what I miss out on.
Newer players have to rush to 90 and at least partway through HW story if they want to participate before content is removed.
Unreal trials are, at present, just as missable as seasonal quests or PVP series/season rewards.
Just as missable, perhaps, but with different degrees of consequences to missing them.
Seasonal quests have two aspects: a "unique experience" of a quest that you won't ever be able to play again (regardless of the quality-or-not of the event) and the rewards, which can be acquired later. If you're an intermittent subscriber then neither way of claiming the rewards is "free" – your choice is between paying a month's subscription now to get the event and items, or ignore it for now and pay a smaller amount later to buy just the items.
PVP season passes have no unique experience, but have unique rewards that so far as we can tell may never be coming back. This really is FOMO, because we still have absolutely no indication from SE about how items will be handled in future, so if we want the items then the only way to be certain of getting them is to be subscribed to the game now and spend a lot of time playing the game right now.
And unreal trials are somewhere in the middle. The exact experience of a level 90 fight against Zurvan is unique and we have no idea if there will be a second turn at it coming back to the game, but the level 60 trial will still be with us. By not participating in Faux Hollows you are missing out on the rewards, but most of them can be sold on the marketboard and while new items are added with each season, the older items are not removed and can be earned at any point in the future.
I do not think I ever said such a thing? I would much rather they make such things more earnable and for events to be more akin to mini tribe quests or what they do in other games like WoW. This topic is one of the few times I end up agreeing with the negative side of the forum haha. As I said, sod this capitalist hellhole we live it that leads to more items/past exclusives being put behind paywalls. I just do not think FOMO is as big a factor in the games/event design as the OP suggested, and out of the games I have personally played I would say its one of the least guilty in the FOMO department.
They did say that but it was a mis translation during the live letter.
What we understood was that previous rewards could be bought the next series as well.
What was really said though is that you can buy the previous series rewards you didn't claim already. So once the series is done, anything you didn't grind for, you lost out on.
Has the idea of being responsible with your money and not overspending on things that, I don't know, might not be exactly needed to enjoy the game crossed your mind?
Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of issues with the cash shop, I think emotes, furnishing and dyes shouldn't be there at all, but comparing it to EA when the easy solution it's simply not paying extra seems a bit of a stretch.
