Need to get over w/e is being released in FFXI. Not only is it not going to be the "death" of 14 but they aren't going to stop making content for 11 just to try and hope 11 will die and all of them will go to 14.

Why would a new expansion for FFXI that isn't coming out anywhere near the time that ffxiv is be a death nail for it?
It's not even being released for the PS2 outside of Japan. It's not going to be a big deal.
They aren't going to kill off either of their games. People that wish to keep playing FFXI deserve new content just as much as we do.

We can understand the concern that people have over one game getting some attention over another. As many people have stated, we do have separate development teams for many of our projects. During crunch time, they may borrow folks from one team to the other, but you can be sure that FINAL FANTASY XIV still is moving forward. =)
I am going to go ahead and lock this thread as the concern has been addressed by our loyal community.
