What about Shadowbringers? The so-called FFVIII raid had more references to ARR content than FFVIII. Weapons have almost nothing in common with their FFVII counterpart beyond general boss design, Werlyt had more roots in mecha anime. They used some FFXII music for Bozja, but it was mostly original content.

From dungeon bosses to story beats to field enemies to literally the entire nation of Doma.... all of Sigmascape....

-Barbarricca (actually the most unique of all the void series)
-Cagnazzo
-Rubicante
-Golbez
-Shadow dragon
-Zeromus
-IV four fiends theme
-Octomammoth



It really really feels overdone in EW to the point I generally never want to see anything else from IV again in XIV and that is a goddamn shame (when it was more spaced out in older expansions it was fine and I had no issue with it)

Did you have this same issue with Shadowbringers are you not mad about that one because it doesn't sound like you ever played III?

Also, that list is tiny in comparison to the references VII or XII have

Its really telling who actually is a FF series fan when people dont even know that the ENTIRE GORRAM GAME has been pulling so many references and allusions to previous titles, non-chalantly pasting them into the game's main story without you noticing it.

Them doing this with FFIV is seriously nothing new. If you're tired of it, then that would mean you're also tired of the entirety of FFXIV as its just a game having multiple affairs with the previous titles.

Dont pin it all on FFIV.
