I could see magicians working in one or two ways:
1. Actual mages using their magic to entertain the masses.
2. Being like IRL magicians, using prestidigitation and technology with a flair of showmanship. Seeing as this is a fantasy world, they would probably double as spies/assassins.

The Irony of it all is that there probably is a way to use Region-Locked mogstation items/glamours/emotes/mounts through illegal ported mods and have them be available in regions you normally wouldn't have them. Like the Tank mount for China or this Magician- Emote for anywhere but China. That and every Kpop-dance-emote you can think of... mhm. Which is against TOS! obviously.
