For the most part (most of the content in this game doesn't have enrages) it really doesn't matter. But the question was asked, so people answered. Why would you enter a discussion about this topic just to ask "who cares"?
And for content where enrages exist, personal performance absolutely matters. You'll get hardstuck and be unable to clear if your group's full of dead weight.
If you weren't on Light, I'd suggest just using DC travel to come on over and enjoy Crystal dutyfinder for yourself. Maybe EU is just better at the game on average, idk dude. All I know is I saw so much shit here that I just started running roulettes with friends because I was tired of a 15 minute thing taking half an hour.
The avarage player in FF14 is playing very poorly imo and there is a minority of decent/good players.
Even at level 90 I see people not aoe'ing, using tank cooldowns when the pull is nearly done, in alliance I never heal anymore because my co-healer 99% ott thinks they need to pop every heal CD after every AOE.
I'm very good at ignoring people, but its getting harder to do because its just so obvious :p
It's incredibly hard to be bad at this game when you have to push like 5 buttons.
2 on healers lel. Combat is the same boring, tired mechs we all known for years.
The hard part is the constant light shows you have to push through to see crap.
But alas, we still have people not knowing those same mechs despite
being here since the beginning. Average players kinda suck in this ez game.
its easy because they kinda suck and they kinda suck because its easy.... where did it start?
Idk maybe I’m playing some alternate reality version of the game but I think this idea that the general ffxiv player has a brain made of pudding is an over exaggeration. From what I’ve seen the average ffxiv player is…average lol. Dps generally do the bare minimum which is follow their rotation and use buffs at 120s. Healers almost always prioritise dps over healing which is exactly what they’re expected to do lol. Tanks generally use their cool downs and I’ve found most tanks will use their party based cool downs for big attacks as well.
This is just based on random duty finders but in my experience general players aren’t that bad lol. They’re not ‘that good’ either - just, well, average lol
I think the average player does know, but I don't think the average player knows as well as they should, or could for that matter, e.g., drifting CDs. Similarly, I do think there is a bigger issue of people simply just not caring than there is of people genuinely misunderstanding.
It's very hard to teach people how to care, and it is much harder to have this care stick to something like learning a class, or even something in general, and I do say this as someone in the field of education, if someone doesn't want to learn, they will not learn and they will continue to do as they please - Now this could hypothetically be addressed but that in itself would cause issues
