Sorry OP, it the policy is pretty clear that accounts are not transferable. This is not something unusual in most online businesses, or even many recurring payment systems. God knows companies don’t like changing the name on bills…even if the person has passed away. Unfortunately, for SE the account was never yours to begin with.
Whatever your reasons for wanting to change, I hope they are nothing like that and…ideally… I hope they are something you can work out.
We are just beginning to see legacy transfers of accounts in some online services like Netflix (being able to transfer one user into an entirely new account). I don’t see that happening in FFXIV, but it is over 10 years old, so who knows.
At the end of the day though, it’s your call- hopefully a solution that brings closure, even if it means stopping.
