I would not recomment doing that because that's reportable (and I certainly would report that because YPYT is a toxic mindset imo) and there is really no reason not to pull w2w in an expert dungeon.

I strongly dislike this behavior, but find it's just easier to proceed as normal as it is not a common occurrence. If a player pulls ahead of me, they do tend to take some damage before I can grab the mobs off of them. That's not me being bitter, that's the nature of PvE when you are at the top of the agro list. I'll still do my best to take the mobs off of them, and the healer can decide whether they live or die should I fail to knab the aggro in time.
I dunno man. I've been running into (and hearing stories of) an awful lot of healers and DPS lately that start getting mad when people pull wall to wall. Good thing two of the tank jobs in no way require the presence of DPS or healers to clear level 90 dungeons, I guess.
I can understand a new healer being apprehensive about it, but uh... when the did DPS start being so timid? It's a very odd change. I do not like it. I'm still assuming for the moment it's just been a run of really bad luck on group members, but the frequency with which these timid individuals seem to pop up is making it harder and harder to maintain this mindset.
Their crying in no way prevents myself or others from trying to pull the entire dungeon. It has, however, resulted plenty of salty tells and at least one dismissal for my part.
I don't think people should assume a new player wants to go it slow with single pulls in a dungeon. At best a player should ask if they want small or bigger pulls, if they feel the need. As for the RDM, how to handle it, if it's really a problem for the rest of the party, just kick them.
I've never posted bait on this forum, ever.
I said it was a controversial opinion. I don't mind picking extra stuff that gets accidentally pulled, but I'm not gonna indulge DPS runners that don't care for the rest of the party in the first place and just run ahead on whatever mad pace they're in. To me it's just a matter of principle. I hate being rude myself, but it just find that attitude disrespectful to begin with, and this is one where trying to dialogue about it will cause people to be even more rude about it. Still, I said I always ask once before I do my thing. Either way, I'm not gonna argue over it. We all have our controversial opinions, and I swear I'm not trying to come across as a bitch, and I know unlike my housing opinions, this one is definitely not "great" but it's how I feel.
I'm sorry if I'm hijacking your thread with my own weird experience. I just didn't understand what was going on.
We were playing... Sohm Al, I think in 50/60... roulette. I was playing DPS. There was another DPS, BLM who kept marking enemies with a cross and tried to tell us not the attack them, over and over. Yet the tank pulled them together and when we, and I, aoe'd the enemies, naturally the marked enemies went with it. And the BLM kept crying and complaining how he wants to die and don't attack it. Finally, I don't even know what happened, he just blurted "he did it in real, he tank" or something. Like, was he trying to play a tank as a DPS or what the hell was happening there? And why? And why expect other people do what you want them to do? Especially if the enemies are grouped together, we are supposed to use single-target attacks instead of aoe's because he wants us to?
As the tank, go as fast as you can properly manage. Use your mit, don't make healer's life harder, but go at the pace you're confident with. If there's a healer in the group that's not comfortable and they voice their opinion, that's when I'd be like no problem and slow it down a bit. I think it's just a safer assumption that the overwhelming majority of players you encounter in roulette will want to go at a reasonably quick pace... so that's the frame of mind I go into the dungeon with. The only time I've ever really going to ask a healer at the start of the run is if we queue into a low level ARR dungeon and I see the healer is a sprout. In that situation it makes the most sense that the healer is literally brand new to the game and going through the MSQ trying to learn their first job most likely.
I have no problem at all with people wanting to zoom zoom through dungeons. I can zoom zoom through a dungeon and be totally relaxed and chill, they're not mutually exclusive or anything lol. The only thing I genuinely still have issues with are people getting triggered over cut-scene watchers when they know it's their first run in a dungeon(notice at the start of a dungeon) and I'm not gonna get annoyed that they wanna watch the cutscene on their first run like pretty much everyone else did. People who get triggered over that, just never made a lot of sense to me.
I don't really prescribe to the whole "you pull it, you tank it" mantra, not in XIV. In something like WoW(especially Classic) where threat/enmity generation is way more crucial and has to be actively managed, yes I absolutely did care about it... because people running ahead and pulling mobs just made your job harder, the risk of wipes were higher and depending on the class in that game, could mess with resource generation(which converts into threat generation).
SMN is bursty enough to easily rip aggro (DNC can also do this with their steps finisher) if those tanks are only using their AoE opener once to start the pull. But it's not impossible for you either to keep DPSing while moving. It's okay to take abit of damage, just pop those Radiant Aegis and keep yourself glued to the tank. It'll be fine.
Now if the tank is afking, that's a different story.
The thing is, it's not just you and the naughty DPS in the dungeon. There are two other people there as well, and they would probably really like it if you made the run go smoothly. Instead, you rather throw a temper tantrum and refuse to tank until someone dies and waste everyone else's time.
And what if the healer decides to heal that mean ol' DPS that ran in front of you? Are you going to start tanking now or will you let the healer die as well?
I mean, who else in this scenario is being an 'entitled selfish player?'
I had this happen the other day as Tank.
I pull everything wall to wall always and pretty fast.
Not fast enough for this guy though..
He constantly sprinted, was always at the edge of the stage to leave fast, and pulled everything.
So I let him and didn't rush after him (neither did anyone else and the healer didn't heal him) and so he died :)
He didn't do it again after that.
Sometimes you don't need to say anything to get your point across.
My opinion is If you want to rush obnoxiously like that go with friends or Tank yourself /shrug
