Making it available at 61+ as the OP suggests still accomplishes this exact same thing. Players would need to subscribe and pay for the expansions to access it, as the free trial is capped at 60.

We're 2 days in. Island Sanctuary won't make it a week before player numbers drop like rocks.
Most are rank 5, there's only 10 ranks.
At that point you water your plants once a day and that's it.
You've already collected everything in the wilds, the granaries cover gathering now.
This is the Limited Jobs version of crafting and gathering.
Scratch that.
It takes days for crops to dry out, and when it rains they get watered automatically, so they never dry out. Crops take about a wek to harvest.
Granaries and Workshops can be programmed in weekly or fortnightly stints.
You only need to engage with this about an hour a week.
Until you've bpught any glam/minions you want, then you forget it entirely.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but 61 you'll only need to buy Stormblood + sub.
The way it is now you have to own Stormblood, Shadowbringers and Endwalker, plus pay sub all the way to EW endgame.
Maybe that's the commitment they expect before deeming it's worth the server space/processing cost they have with IS?
Also at some point they would want to convert those free trials to sales + subscription and they want to maximize that?
There's no free lunch.
PS.: I'm not arguing if that's right or wrong, just what I think is their line of thinking.
You only need to be about lvl 5 to enter housing, but in order to own even an FC room you must be lvl 50 and a 2nd LT in your Grand Company. So it's not exactly the right connection there. I believe to visit you only need to be lvl 50 and complete the base ARR story. The EW msq portion is just for having your own so it really is just like Housing almost.
yea, they should have make it so you can visit early... that said, its already done. doesnt matter what people post, this is a post ew content and its gonna stay like that forever
I am honestly confused. What does the quest being level 1 have to do with anything? You have to be in Endwalker anyways. F2P players don't get an island they can't get to Endwalker. Correct me if I am wrong. But can they enter your island if open? Is that what the OP is complaining about? They can enter my house. Can you even use other peoples NPCs. Unless I have missed something this feels like a weird complaint.
I believe prior to EW's release, Mr. Happy did a bit of a trial to see how long it would take him to progress the MSQ before AND after they condensed the ARR questline; so we'll just say one and three quarters around the track. I don't remember the exact amount of playtime it took, but he did it in less than a month, and under reasonable circumstances (not starting himself off with millions of gil, gear, etc.). And that is with everything else he has going on. I normally don't care for this dude, but I definitely respected that he put himself through that for his viewers.
Anywho, that's as nice as I am going to be before scolding those with an unsettling need for instant gratification. Seriously. Play the friggin game, and you'll get there eventually. Simple as that. Complaining will just lengthen the time it takes you get there. It's good to have motivation, and something to work towards. So get on it. I will see you in the roulettes.
You can't buy expansions individually. When Stormblood released, you couldn't find Heavensward anymore (which later got rolled into base ARR anyway). When Shadowbringers released, you could no longer find Stormblood. With Endwalker released, neither Shadowbringers nor Stormblood is available.
Further, even if they were to attempt to track down individual expansions (keys may still exist somewhere out there online?), and assuming those options were even still functional, they would be triply expensive over simply purchasing the easily accessible Endwalker, which provides all previous expansions in one purchase.
Finally, there's no saying they wouldn't still need to purchase Endwalker to access the content, just as you still need to purchase expansions to access new jobs. Requiring a license to the expansion is not the same as requiring finishing the expansion. The content could still be gated behind "Must have Endwalker product registered to account." The argument is simply to reduce the required level to access (and, logically, the location of access) from a level 90 story completion down to a more easily accessible point.
