When is PLD Getting Fixed So It Can Be a VIABLE Tank?

PLD can tank just fine......as a WHM, single target I prefer a PLD tank because it's so easy.

However; current content doesn't need a defensive tank. A warrior, as an offensive tank, can keep hate and deal more damage. Even with only 1 WHM for the most part...

A PLD is a viable tank, but not the optimal tank.

Your war cant help double regen the party, help with stoneskin rotations, cover for flare fest, stand still for coin counter, nor keep hate from a trio of monks not holding back on mistress. Pld can, and make it look easy.

I watched a pld hold coin counter off for 5 minutes as both whm's wiped.

Yeah, war can do more damage, but the monks not having to hold back in the slightest will easily make up for the pld's attack and then some.

Paladins are fine and sure improvements are welcome but I don't see anyone claiming only warriors now for their runs.

Leveling up you pretty much are just a puller but there's nothing wrong with that considering how safe it is in aoe spam and link fests. Eventually things start to come into place at 40+.

I'd be interested in seeing some sort of visible enmity value maybe. Then we can see which class' rotation is actually superior.

Pretty much this. Unless I'm the monk that is getting collusioned, even with the -20 enm tabard and my -23 enm belt, I take hate much faster on a warrior than on a paladin. Spirit's Within just gives so much enmity it's crazy. Also since PLD makes more use out of the heavy darklight set than warrior, they can in the end have much higher enmity gain.

Now, I still believe PLD requires some fixes still, but at least now it has something which it does better than war.

shouldnt really require a gear set to make a job work. it should be viable with any appropriate gear set. (key word appropriate) part of why i say cover is broken. without the af body you lose the mp regen and in turn thats fairly crippling as for the ost part outmanouvere isn't an overly impressive mp return (sure theres a few exceptions) but for the most part the most viable mp source a paladin has is cover and that forces you to use af. which is kinda why i think it still needs balancing.

but paladin is certainly much better than it was. few minor tweaks to mp regen giving people the option to use different gear more freely. maybe let them use melded cobalt/sentinals or soemthing without crippling a huge source of there mp.

You dont need cover MP to do your job well, hell last I checked our pld doesnt even use af guantlets anymore...or least the last few runs I did with him. Theres other ways to restore MP or keep Pld a good job without his mp pool being 100% every second. No melee class should have an mp regen better or equal to that of a mage.

Again pld is fine. Any more buffing and its just requests from people who just dont want to work at it. Thats like me saying mnk damage sucks because I'm too lazy to combo again and again.

Stop complaining before they do buff it, realized its way op...then nerf the ever living hell outta it.

i love the people defending pld in its current state. PLD is ok, but I can get on my MRD and do everything twice as good with half the effort.

Soo true. Just to add onto this, I solo'd Coin Counter from 50% to 0% as PLD tank when my party wiped.

Nothing wrong with either job.

My only issue is when my PLD out dps'd my WAR on Chimera o.o
