lol I love the trend of the forums that if you like classes becoming simplified than you're a terrible gamer and a bootlicker. (not to say that I don't recognize the problems, dw, I do. and yes, I know about healers and agree that they've been done dirty. dw.). Dark Knight used to have an ability called "Dark Arts". You would press it to enhance your other actions and abilities. There (Dark Arts)was a (Dark Arts)big meme (Dark Arts)about (Dark Arts)how they would Dark Arts everything.

It was removed in Shadowbringers but Kaiten is used the same way, so you can see the other reason that might have contributed to the decision.

I'm very dissapointed too. Sam could use some cleanup on aoe OGCDs, but instead we lose something that goes in tandem with iaijutsu and imo feels satisfying to use.

I dont care about complexity or simplicity or even button bloat. I just think kaiten is fun. Feels like I'm powering up for the next big attack. I'm really going to miss that.

I think it might even increase their DPS, since they are compensating for the lost damage by upping potencies on some attacks and Setsugekkas are becoming guaranteed crits... And with Kaiten being removed, you can replace it with a Shinten in the rotation.

Guess I'm in the minority because I think the new SMN is crazy fun to play. In fact, it's in my top three most fun jobs to play in the game.

Turn off BFX for a while and you'll figure out it's just spamming 1 then spamming 2. There's no depth to it at all and it's somehow even more shallow than healer gameplay. It just has a metric assload of particle effects strapped to it to try and hide how shallow the gameplay is.

I think you're misunderstanding the complaints.

People complain that the new SMN is too simple, not that it isn't "fun to play" (though many people think that it's too simple to be fun). It's a nice relaxing job to play along with RDM and DNC if you don't want to worry too much about performing.



I'm going to dislike Kaiten being gone for sure. I understand the reasoning behind it, but I feel like when they make changes like this, they need to introduce something else to really show a positive on why they changed it. Especially since there are so many more buttons that could be removed instead and removing the animation of Kaiten is going to hurt the most.

I play with reduced spell effects and I still think it's fun to play.

This has already played out in WoW. People complained about too many buttons, every class got pruned to nothing, it was awful and not fun, years later the devs reversed course. Hopefully the FF14 devs don't make the same mistake. Having a mix of complex jobs and simple jobs is good for the game. If every job gets turned into Summoner I would probably just quit. Yoship saying today that DRG is getting changes because it's "too busy" (lolwut) already has me worried.
