Single-player RPG incoming.
Well, when both the developers and the people playing this game have fostered a community where a single word or phrase that someone takes negatively - not neutrally, or even nicely - has them slamming the report button... and attempting to offer any advice or tips - no matter how politely worded - on anything from dungeon mechs to class help more often than not gets you berated, insulted, verbally abused, told to go back to MMOs you've never even played, and sees people attempting to get you killed via MPK...
Yeah, leaving in silence is about all that's left for most people who do not want to play with others whose "playstyles" (if we can even call it that, half the time) clash with theirs and drag runs on far longer than they should or need to go, or with people who are actively trolling and abusing their party members.
We already have a 30 minute penalty. We're already punished for dropping runs if we're the first one to leave. Now you want to punish people even more?
Please touch grace.
There's a couple of things they could do.
1- They could escalate the punishment over time. So if you had something important come up once your penalty is not that harsh, but if you make a habit of it you could be locked out for longer and longer, getting into a few hours of penalty eventually. And let it decay, but slowly. An emergency leave every 2 weeks could be understandable.
2- They could make the penalty harsher if you leave within the first few minutes of a duty AND you queued as a roulette and not directly.
I'm thinking this may be a data center thing. I honestly don't see people leave that often unless it's from Castrum or from anything that's not CT....and usually it's only 1-2 people. Very rarely is it more than that that leaves
The actual solution is to teach tanks how to properly pull so people are less likely to leave due to boredom, and stopping people from cheesing alliance roulette.
I'm not saying I leave when I get one of the infamous 3, I'm just saying it's the last roulette I do.
I always thought that an increasing penalty each time would be the best solution. Add 30 minutes extra each time and eventually most people will stop. That or an increased penalty if you leave in the first say two to five minutes or something.
If a person had to leave for a RL issue they probably won't even be back before the timer ran out anyways so that "argument" is a moot point.
