Weird except for the first one the other two are generally about respecting players time. Something SE says they do. If feast rewards were earn able at any time you could say "git gud". If fishing had some sort of rotation or some other skill aspect you could say "git gud".

Why is this always someones default answer. "Games are a waste, why you play?" You do understand earning/fulfillment? Lots of people find RNG gated gaming to not be fun or fulfilling. If you had said the game needs an RNG content for people who enjoy that, fine.

I guess you can't read, huh? Or the definition of "mostly" and "fun" changed and i missed the news.

But that most people hate RNG gated gaming is a shocker, never would guessed that! I bet you are one of those people who would like to just press a button and unlock anything in the game in a instant, lol.

So hot take but bare with me, fishing is a timesink 100% designed just to be a achievement. Making it easier doesn't make any sense at all. If you hate it just find other stuff to do, it's not really that hard to not drift into selfdestructive boredom.

But yeah, i get you. Next time i run a marathon i will ask the organizer to move the finish line right in front of the start. Cause that is earning and fullfillment nowdays!

My favorite fishing was in Lunia... you could afk and your character just fishes stuff as time goes on automatically.. I don't remember but I think black desert might be the same way? maybe not..

But fishing in FFXIV doesn't seem that bad to me.. yeah it's rng... so what.. I guess it is really hard to catch some fish... but that's normal and okay to me. I'm stuck on that level 53 fishing quest... [SPOILER]where you have to fish up 3 HQ ice picks... they cost 80k for all 3 I think in the market... seems like a good way to make money.. but dang... they're insanely hard to catch... I barely caught 2 normal ones in over 15 minutes fishing. [/SPOILER]

Fortunately, that's the only fishing quest with such bad RNG if you're doing it at/near the intended level. If you've made your way to level 58, get a couple of Goblin Jigs then head to Unfrozen Pond to catch them (will have a much higher catch rate).

Fishing is totally fine.
Need a bit of QoL here and there but mostly fine.

I don't get the whole 'not respectful of one's time' thing in an MMO. It's supposed to take time. I would understand gear more, since that hinders progression through the story, maybe, but fishing? It's supposed to be boring and long. That's like rl fishing. lol

We dont have one because they didnt want to introduce a special inventory, instead we got more normal inventory slots and the chocobo saddle bag - you could use said saddle bag as your tackle box, if you wish to do that, while anyone who doesnt fish can make use of that inventory aswell.

1) A complete revamp of the bait system. Make them offhands and put levels on them. There shouldn't be hundreds of baits. It just gets confusing.

2) A complete revamp of the available fish. RNG makes it an utter pain in the @$$ to complete the log when there are literally thousands of fish. It needs condensed.

3) Stop with the time gates and weather gates. There's a reason the Sightseeing Logs stopped using them. It sucks trying to get that one fish when it only spawns at 2AM for a 1 hour period and then doesn't appear again for the next 4 days.

No other job has is this much of a pain to master or let alone level. "The RNG is part of the job". It doesn't have to be.

Literally the only thing I could do to make catching the namitaro better is set self-care reminders for myself so I didn't do anything self-destructive while waiting for the reel in to be successful outside of my control.
I think that's a sign that a game's system isn't the best it could be. :T

This was brought up before at a Q&A awhile back and it was said that it would require an expensive and extensive game re-write and couldn't be implemented in the game's current form without breaking things.
The Chocobo Saddle Bag, plus the doubling of it via the account upgrade for app users, is a current usable alternative, just store the tackle/bait in there, bring out to your Inventory what you currently need.
Otherwise, use the "universal" tackle/bait for the type of fishing to cut down what you need.
