No, you don't. If you really wanted the run to go as fast as possible you would have gone out of your way to acquire all of the valour stacks for damage first and foremost. Then you would have searched and/or tested which two actions + essence are the most suited for dmg for the role that you are playing and supply yourself with them. And then you would have queued for DR and out-damage everybody. This is the logical course of actions for people who really want to make the run as fast as possible. Anything else is just lip service. You don't want the run to go as fast as possible, you want your relic grind to end as fast as possible which is why you are not going out of your way to do side stuff which at the end will only result in your relic grind taking longer to complete.

Edit: Let's not forget about the bozja gear with the special haste. You need to acquire that too. You want the run to go as fast as possible after all.

Picture this:
You are going from A to B location in a car with 3 people.
The 3 others agreed to split the bill when it comes to pay the toll. Except you, you don't. You don't want to pay anything to go faster. The 3 other paid the maximum they could.
But your group don't have enough money to pay all tolls, so the driver will have to take a longer path to avoid it. because they paid the first tolls, you will benefit a shorter travel.

Are the 3 others right to be angry at you? Would you do this to friends?
Also, essences are crazy easy to get, see my post above. You'll also make good gils out of selling things you'll get in Bozja.

They are not easy to get. There are (as of now) 36 Fragments (with extremely confusing names) you can get. With no information whatsoever in the game where to get them. And buying them on the MB is not an option for a lot of players. Take for example the Skirmisher essence (the only really usable essence for most physical dps jobs), that drops from Sagacity which goes for 10k per fragment on my server. The last time I bought a stack (99) I got 13 Skirmishers out of it. Paying 1 mio gil for that is simply not an option for a lot of players neither is spending hours mindlessly killing mobs for clusters.

The devs really took the worst aspects of the Lost Logos system from Eureka and made it way worse for the casual players.

Sure, a run will go a lot faster with essences/action but then SE shouldn't created such a complex and unintuitive system if they expect the average player to use it.

You can google that information. Or ask around. Remember when HW relics and Eureka's quest message would tell you "try asking other players for information" because, you know, this is an MMO and stuff?

I haven't spent a single gil on fragments and I haven't gone out of my way to farm them.
I have more Essence of the Martialist than I could ever need.
What's your excuse?

I personally switch around between setups, but these are the most common ones I used for soloing III mobs, either for long term or while I'm recruiting to get full group. Mind you these were before Zadnor implemented:

1. Tanks + Breathtaker [ Lost Paralyze III | Any ] with some Auto-Potions.
   My poor-man's Bloodsucker setup. Breathtaker turns your auto-potion into semi-permanent Excogitation. Paralyze is to significantly reduces the mobs' auto-attacks frequency. Second lost action can be any, preferably something offensive or Spellforge if you're cluster farming. Probably can work with DPS but that means you're risking more 10% chance of losing auto-potion buff.
2. Tanks + Bloodsucker [ Any | Any ]

   Stay in Umbral Ice phase and mow down the pack with your infinite Flare Star and some Freeze/Thunder IV/Foul casts.

With Zadnor lives, I'm pretty sure there's already even better setup that incorporates new actions such as Rampage/Burst & taking account the medal buffs as well. Overall it should be much, MUCH easier by now.

The thing is, Beast only comes from CLL chest loots so it's not always readily available to farm like Skirmisher.

I've maxed out the amount of lost bubble I can carry without even trying, yet going out of my way to farm ordained essences doesn't get me enough and I'm still always out of them, so clearly the devs only want me to cast lost bubble and not use essences.

1) You didn't made a lot of efforts there, not even googling. Skirmisher essence is not the best, the best is Essence of Beast + Lost Assassination. Both aren't difficult to get.
2) "I don't have gils or time to farm clusters" are you logging, run Delubrum/Dalriada then logoff? If you have so little time to play, you may have bigger concerns in your life. Yet it looks like you have a lot of time to make different relics or farm mounts.

"I don't have the time, I can't spend hours to do X" but "I don't want to spend resources to go faster while farming relics", choose one.
You definitely choose "I don't want to make effort, please carry me and spend your resources to make my gameplay go faster"

Fun fact, we made a neat amount of gils by selling those. I simply don't know why someone is buying it, but what grinds my gear is people keeping actions and opening clusters they will never use.
