This is me.
What annoyed me to no end in Stormblood is that the characters don't even mention you as a Samurai if you play as one during the MSQ. Not even once. Felt weird. While Yuugiri I think actually commented something if you are a Ninja?
Anyways, this is why I tend to use classes like Tanks when progressing in MSQ, because it seems appropriate for the lore that WoL is a tank or a (physical) DPS. I like playing as Healers more though, hahaha.
While I enjoy playing many different jobs, I still feel compelled to stick to my initial choice of NIN as the "main" one I do all of the MSQ and raid content with.
sadly no for me, because blue mage isnt allowed to run story since it's not "real", and chocobo knight doesn't exist (and ironically was confirmed dead by blue mage, of all things).
that story really leans into the player being expected to be an action-y tank/dps class--it's hard to square up with any level of seriousness to zenos' final unstoppable inexorable form in a white bathrobe with a book--my usual go-to before 5.0 lobotomized the role is also off the table.
the current headcanon is that my WoL is just a polymath, since a lot of class' quests blend together a lot of their underlying material; WAR/DRK/PLD dealing with introspection and the understanding and acceptance of one's own soul, DRK/SAM/GNB(?) deal with one's personal sense of duty and justice, BLM/WHM/SCH/SMN double up on aetherological knowledge from many sources/aspects and their ties to the lore of the source (touching on the history of mhach, amdapor, nym, and allag), and on and on.
No.

it was once upon a time, but then SE decided they'd bin cross class and destroy several jobs over 6 years and refuse to give healers/casters armour instead of robe number 489 or coat number 263
end result: I'm only picking 6.0 up for the story at this point with little faith in the dev team to correct the myriad problems and mistakes that shadowbringers made more obvious than ever
she'll spend some time in monster hunter i think, since apparently rathalos and the felyne got to othard without any supernatural means
I still identify as a scholar even though I main white mage.
My 'gameplay character' maxes out all jobs, so not so much, but my main roleplay character's jobs are ingrained to his background and plot. He's dragoon+astrologian, although in-character he isn't a dragoon, but just a regular officer-rank knight that prefers fighting with a halberd and serves House Durendaire. He carries an astroglobe on a sling and knows offensive astrology spells, but doesn't know how to read cards and isn't very good at healing. He's never had proper training in astrology, hence his oddly selective knowledge.
Here's some drawings of him I've done:
