Free or Payed MMORPG, What would you preffer on FXIV?

Thought I generally don't like the F2P of buying items and such. Guild Wars is one exception. You are not required to buy stuff from their shop to experience the game itself. You merely need to buy the game initially. I have bought storage panes and 2 character slots (to be able to have 1 character of each class), and a couple costumes, but they aren't required to experience the game itself.

That said, I would prefer a Monthly sub for FFXIV.

F2P is probably best for the game at this point, but I doubt that would cover the costs since most F2P games operate on the low end of the PC spectrum.

But if the game does "succeed", I wager that pay-to-play would be better since they could afford to make more content :3

If FFXIV ever becomse F2P with microtransactions I will quit it without ever looking back, thats for sure.

I've played F2P MMOs before, but I never got to the point where I had to pay ludicrous amounts of money to gain access to areas. I'd rather not play party to a game that uses that sort of bait.

I take enough issue with paying a monthly fee as it is.

i would not play if they added the f2p on things like access to dungeons and stuff, but it would not be a bad thing for such things as changing character races, transferring your character to another server, and extra retainers. there are a few things i would not mind having the microtransactions for, but potions/gear/dungeons/items i would not want to be a part of the game with these aspects.

just to keep from the things that would not affect gameplay getting overwhelmed with every item becoming available i would prefer it stayed out in general.

i feel that f2p will bring in more players but i think it would be the wrong kind of players. f2p is aimed towards a younger audience who doesn't have or aren't old enough to have debit/credit cards so they can play all they want without having to spend any money. this creates a disparity with hardcore older players who can shell out a lot of money trying to weed out the younger players who are just playing to have fun and pass the time.

i do prefer a monthly fee but i would also welcome some sort of small microtransaction. nothing that improves your character but stuff like suits/dresses, show weapons/armor, maybe different style mounts for ur chocobo. stuff thats doesn't have any stat benefits and mainly for appearance.

I hate those games, they say it is free to play but in reality you just have to pay for the items that make you look cool. All free to play MMORPGs and Virtual World games are like that. I have played my fair share of Gpotato games and every single one is like that! I hate that system and I defiantly prefer the monthly charges so technically everyone has an equal chance at getting items (well except those that dabble in the rmt trades and such)

I prefer monthly fee since cash shop = bad.

Hopefully we will never see that crysta shop becoming cash shop like other MMOs where cash items >>>>>> best obtainable ingame stuff.

My vote is for the monthly fee. Never liked a f2p yet.

I think I will do the same, but I will look back and remember the game and cry like a baby T__T, after that, I'm going to play Guild wars 2 hahaha ;)
