If an issue was brought up 5+ years ago, and someone decided to contribute, this would mean there is still merit to adding points of talk to the discussion at hand.
While the original topic creator may not be around to see your posts, someone might.
Like I can't tell you how often I'm doing my best google-fu on some obscure tech issue, to find a lone post on a small message board that had the same problem. With the only reply is just "Ah I figured it out thanks" and it's old and closed and I have no way to bring it up again asking him to actually post the dang procedure lol.
I could create a new topic on it but why not use the one that already exists? The guy that have made it might get an alert or something. It's my best lead and it's locked, it's a bit frustrating lol.
This is even worse. What's the point? There's no limitations on how old something can be before replies aren't allowed.
