One can ignore an F-bomb in voice chat, but there is a level of calculation in a chat window, given the fact that you have to actually think before typing the words.
I blame this readiness to be rude on the anonymity engendered by people who have never known a world without the Internet.
To be clear, I didn't raise my millennial-generation sons to believe that the world revolves around them, nor do other parents that I know. You've apparently bought into the mythos of a marketing category that conveniently gives you a box to put down people whose views you don't appreciate.
