Yup, healer are are too much of the same. Maybe it were the problem is and maybe... I say maybe they need to make the 3 already existing healer play differently enough before adding a fourth one to take in consideration when reworking the other.

It's not like you need meta or anything for duty finder difficulty.
Any 4 dps will do.
Even on expert it doesn't matter (you only want 4 different job DPS for LB but even then I successfully done EX with 2 DPS being the same job).

Only on Savage and Ultimate you need this and those are PF content where you create your comp the way you want it.

No need to clog up queues even more. Casual content that peopke use duty finder for does not need that kind of super specific part composition enforced.

I’m happy we are getting another ranged dps, but that doesn’t mean I’m happy healers aren’t also getting a new job. As far as dps goes though, imo they really are totally different play styles as to warrant evening out the types. Just because you love melee doesn’t mean you’ll like caster or ranged etc. But while they are vastly different in terms of play style they are still all dps and any composition of dps is fine for duty finder.

Anyway, people being happy about a 3rd ranged dps doesn’t mean they are the enemies of healers or are bathing in their tears or something. Pretty sure most people would agree it would have been nice if they had been able to add another healer, but peopke loving or hating what dancer turned out to be isn’t going to change the decisions they have already made.

Il will let the 4 man party aside, but for the 8 man party the restriction should be :
- 2 tanks
- 2 healers
- 2 melee dps
- 1 ranged dps
- 1 caster dps

If you are not agree, then sub-role dps is not as important as healer and tank, and so ranged dps shouldn't had the priority to get another job over the healers.

When I go to a party to fill in the tank role, I get 3 (soon to be 4) options to choose from
When I go to a party to fill in the DPS role, I get 9 (soon to be 10) options to choose from

That's already what the duty finder matchmaker tries to do OP. If that combination is available, it will construct a party like that. But it also has to take into other factors like how long someone has been waiting, etc.

These posts in semantics are getting ridiculous. Everyone knows that people who like the playstyle of bard and machinist, aka ranged dps that have free movement and support, have two choices. Healers have three. Like there's no question because the game director literally said it himself. If you don't agree, you're wrong.

There's no reason to mess up queues by adding restrictions which only serve to hamper DPS players further as they're the only ones whom have actual queue times and are the only ones that would be affected by segregating them all into "Sub-Roles".

Also, for most content it's not even necessary to do. All you need is 4 people who deal damage (Heck, many Trials only need 1 tank with the other just DPSing the entire time). How they choose to do that damage is not important.

Especially in casual content where people won't be doing things like timing their CD's to stack them together for exponential gains.

As far as "Importance" and which roles "Needed" a new job...

Tanks, Healers and physical rDPS all were in equal need of a new job come ShB. Mostly because, for reasons I don't fully understand, SB felt the need to provide a 4th mDPS. Had SB not provided Samurai (By forcing in a dual pronged storyline that splits focus between Ala Mhigo and Doma) and instead provided a new physical rDPS then everything would be peachy with all roles having 3 jobs and then going into ShB we could get the Tank and Healer jobs.

Also interesting to note, that without shoehorning in a trip to Doma for Samurai, we could have had Lyse become Dancer, what with her red dress being similar to that of the Dancer we see in the ShB trailer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think a lot of the issue lies with MCH which is a class that doesn’t even make sense anymore and has a player base of like 2 people (over exaggerated of course) sooo many physical range players just gravitate towards bard or a whole new role all together.

I think SE would have been fine to for go this third physical range because lord only knows that’s not what we need with the current meta crap if they would simply just do MCH right that means none of this over heating nonsense they thought was a good move. Buuut that’s just my opinion

Thats not correct though.

The duty finder always tries to put 1 melee withi 1 ranged.

The duty finder doesnt break it down to 3 casters and 2 physical ranged. It looks at it as 4 melee and 5 ranged. And with Dancer it will look at it as 4 melee and 6 ranged. This is for 4 man content of course.

This just means that healer balancing is more serious than we all thought. As a tank main I hope when May comes the job change reveals give healers all they asked for and more.
