You are comparing a tool that records and parses your combat log to 3rd party software that completely plays the game for you, two entirely separate things. Using a parser/dps meter to measure your and your groups/raids performance is in no way, shape or form cheating. It's not controlling your character for you, it's simply just relaying back information to you in a easy to digest format so you can see how you are performing. The only reason it's technically against the ToS is to punish people who use it as a tool to abuse others, you reporting anyone who even mentions anything about it isn't going to do anything. The only way someone is going to get suspended/banned is if they are using it to grief others. So, no it's not cheating.Quote:

I mean...parser data is actually available in game as well...in fact they are public data. Its very possible for people to "parse" you by pulling out a calculator, looking at damage you dealt within a certain time frame, which would be logged on their battle chatlog in game, then they can essentially rat you out for doing low dps by doing the math manually. The parser just automate the math part. If math is cheating...then...well.

I have no qualms with DPS meters and think it is absurd that the game doesn't allow them. I understand that they help you get better at your class.
